brake failure

    2000 tundra sr5 trd package
    Hi i just bought a 2000 tundra AC v8 4wd. Today on my 2 hr drive to work i had no brakes at the end! i could get it to stop with the pedal all the way down and stopping distance is very very far. I looked and saw the front driver brake line came off the caliper. This looks like a simple enough fix once i get home, any ideas how to temporarily fix this?

    Imma keep it stock
    No "temp" fix. Find an autoparts store and replace the line. Then bleed the brakes in the parking lot.

    I mean, in theory, you could pop off the nipple/line end and the flare that tore off, slide the nipple back on the line, file the end of the line cleanly, then re-flare the end of the line (or double flare, IIRC?), and thread it back it. It looks like it sheared cleanly right at the end, so the loss of line should be minimal. You may need to bend the existing line a bit by hand to stretch it out in compensation.

    Needle Nosed vice grips on the rubber line would be the only way you are going to keep any fluid in it. We have had to do that in desert races when a line gets ripped off. I would put needle nosed vice grips on the rubber line, fill it with fluid, and cross your fingers on the way home using the shifter to downshift yourself to scrub speed. Use the brakes only to come to a stop, dont use the brakes to slow down use the shifter, meaning you need to use the gas very little, use the shifter to slow down, and brakes only to stop from 10-0.

    May want replace both sides along with the soft lines preventively. Has anyone worked on that caliber recently?
