Tailgate lock issue

I’ve got a Pop & Lock ( or whatever they installed when I got the truck) It’s worked flawlessly until a few minutes ago. It seems to lock fine, but it’s making a noise when I unlock it. It’s almost a grinding noise. Anyone else ever have this issue?

Mine just started doing this today. Worked fine all this morning but this evening it started making the noise

 

The lock area is easy to open and look; just remove the plate (held in by screws). There are a couple of cams attached to the motor. Sometimes after years, they can jump out of alignment, etc. especially if the grease has worked out of there. Just check that and add some grease if you can realign or reset it. Worst case the actuator motor has worn out, but you can get replacements pretty cheap on Amazon and ebay.

Must be something in the air here in San Antonio. Mine was fine all day and crapped out when I left the store

 

Must be lol. Mine was fine all day until walking out of dinner about 7pm. I opened mine up and looked at it, it looks like it’s trying to keep running after it’s already move it to the unlock position and is maxing out. I believe mine is the pop lock one after looking at pics but not for sure it came with the truck
