Slow Start After Sitting

I have a 2018 SR5 and after it sits a while it will turn over fine but once the engine starts it almost sounds like it will stop but then it starts going fine after a few seconds. It’s been kind of doing it a while but gotten a little worse the past few days. Once I drive it and park for a few min it starts right up no issue. It only does it after it sets for hours but not every time. Any ideas? Tganks.

That reading will cause it to start slow sometimes? Wouldn’t that reading make it start slow every time?

 

No - cold starts get more fuel. When the alcohol percentage is wrong it floods the engine. Once the temp comes up - it doesn’t send as much fuel and it starts better.

Just had my ECM reprogrammed and the alcohol density reset at dealer today, $388 in Houston, Texas. This was after I replaced the fuel pump myself. (First time fuel pump swap took about 2.5 hours.) Not to my surprise the issue was still there the following day. So, I decided to take it to the dealer to get the programming done and alcohol density reset. This was 11/26/42. Will update once I start it up in the morning. Although reading through I do need to change my cats, so I'm wondering if that is a symptom of having more fuel than needed and getting buildup inside the cats.

I bought the truck in 2020 with 94K miles on it. Now at 149K if anyone was wondering. Was getting 10.5 MPG before the reset, so I'll update those numbers as well.

 

Update startup was normal, roared to life like it should. No more slow/sluggish startup!
