I just went from an 04 with a bench to an 05 with bucket seats. The area in front of the cupholders and little center caddy is HUGE. I wish there'd been that much foot room when riding in the middle seat of my dad's 83 Toyota pickup!

It's a large space and there's really nothing there except carpet. I'd like to have the following in my cab, ideally all in one unit:
    1. A place to mount my phone, not on the dashboard. In my old truck, the bench seat was too far away to hear a podcast well when doing 80mph on the interstate for an hour. It also tended to slide around or off the seat. The cupholders on this Tundra are even farther from my ears.

    2. More up front storage. If it's a storage box/cabinet between the seats on the transmission hump, I'm fine with that. I haven't figured out where I'm putting my jumper cables, socket wrenches, cheater bar, straps, other trailer ball (larger ball + mount), and other necessities.

    3. A 12v speaker with a 3.5mm audio jack that I could plug my phone into would be great! I do not like screwing around with Bluetooth, and using the audio jack will extend battery life. I don't really want to mess around with replacing the whole stereo system when all I need is an audio jack.

    4. A trash can/area. Maybe I can do better than "throw it on the passenger floorboard" like my dad did and I have done so far?

I have tried searching online for a caddy or organizer that may include a powered section or speaker, but between 3 pages of sponsored links and search engines throwing up stuff for truck bed organizers or "replace your interior speakers with XYZ", I've gotten zilch. Maybe I'm using the wrong search term?
    Any suggestions?

You didn't put '1st Gen' in your thread title so you may get some really weird responses to your thread...

I'm trying to visualize the center console you have or don't have. Captains chairs ("buckets") in the later years normally have the long center console from back seat to the dash (see below), in one of two variations. Are you saying you don't have the full size center console but have buckets?!

Oh and for the audio, I know you said you don't want bluetooth, but GTA makes a VERY EASY to install add-on kit that adapts the OEM radio with an AUX jack (which you could hide in the center console as shown above), and enables bluetooth, hands-free phone calling, etc.

    https://www.gtacarkits.com/product/toyota-tundra-2003-2006-iphone-aux-kit/

Several have used it on here and had excellent feedback. It works with 2003+ Tundras.

And for the trash situation, I have a general rule of thumb: If it doesn't fit in the door pocket, then it goes into the 1st trash can I see. At a parking lot. At a interstate rest area. At the grocery store parking lot. Etc. It prevents clutter buildup, and is generally just a smart, clean and responsible way to live.

Here's a photo of the interior space I'm talking about to clarify:

How weird! I don't think I've ever seen that setup before. And the pattern on the front seats matches the rear seats?

The ashtray charging mount I linked above would still work with your truck. There's another thread on mounts here. If you don't like it, see here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/1st-gen-tundra-phone-mount-solutions.147682/

If I were you, I'd hit a junkyard and buy the center console I have in my truck. You can nab one from a variety of vehicles (Tundra/Sequoia) in the 2000-2007 year range.

That console matches the one in my 03 AC with the 60/40 bench seat. Curious if someone swapped in those bucket seats or if that was actually an option.

Yes, the seats match. As far as I can tell, it's a stock config. It's the exact same radio/center console as my 04 with bench. The transmission hump gap is just so much huger.
You've put several links up for me to follow up on, thanks! I like the Bluetooth/aux mount to the back of the stereo.

It looks like there are a lot of options with ball mounts. I just need to find a ball holder for my phone size and then figure out where I want the ball. Kinda wish I'd come here and asked this 5 years ago.

I have that setup too. The lack of storage is annoying sometimes but it makes the cabin feel huge. Maybe it was a 00-03 thing? I don't think I've ever seen a DC with the short console.

You might already know about this- but there are storage compartments under the rear seat. The factory jack and lug wrench are in the drivers side compartment but there's still a bit of room in there. On the passenger side I have a set of jumper cables, a blanket, and a small first aid kit.

I feel like it's a RC/AC thing. I've never seen a DC with the short console.

I have rubber floor mats on order from WeatherTEch based on some other forum threads. They no longer sell the version that covers the transmission hump. I've also ordered an iOttie phone mount, since several people on the forum have mentioned that brand.

I'm going to wait until I can pull the radio and verify it has a plug in the rear to order the bluetooth kit. The part in the install video where they pull the window moulding away from 18 year old adhesive and expect it to just pat back into place makes me nervous!

So far, I'm thinking I may just have to make a center stuff-holder over the hump out of a couple of pieces of wood (one on each side), connected by a couple of spacers that can tighten up to clamp it in place around the bottom of the dash console and around the base of the cupholder.... then cover it with carpet or bed liner or something. I'm not quite sure how I want to hold it together, as I don't want nuts or threading sticking out where they could catch on anything.

The WT floor mats are okay-ish. The rear ones suck if you have power driver seat.

If I were you, I'd look into the smaller center console @KNABORES and @FiatRunner have. It should be plug and play. It looks like this and sits back quite a bit, so you still have the entire hump space free and open for whatever you need/want. Pricing is pretty fair for them online, but I'm guessing you could find a salvage yard near you with one in stock for $40-$100 or less with all the hardware. 4 bolts to install it, the floor should be pre-tapped for it to fit. You can get it with a black center insert or wood center insert.

I have both 2000 AC and a 2004 AC. Both have bucket seats. The 2000 has the short console, the 2004 has the long console. I much prefer the long console! And if you find a long console at a wrecking yard, make sure to grab the two black HVAC ducts that route the floor heat to the back seating area. There’s quite a few different little odds and ends of brackets and such that you have to grab with the long console itself.

Right now I think my best solution to make the hump useful is some sort of shallow wooden tray with 2-3"H walls, and extensions on one end that clamp around the console/cupholder area. I don't really want to drill through the carpet and into the area above the transmission to mount it.
