Window Tinting

The higher the percentage, the lighter the tint. I did 65% ceramic on my windshield and it’s barely noticeable. My wife’s car has 70% and it too is barely noticeable. A lot of people around where I live do 50% and that’s where you can really start tell.

 

ya, it really depends on the local laws and how far you want to push them. MY set-up is geared towards just barely going past the legal and not being even able to tell on the windshield, but still get all the heat reduction

one point for those who don't know, there is no difference in performance with these different light amounts we are all discussion, good ceramic is all like 99% plus UV block

 

One of the few benefits of being in California, cops don't care about tint, or anything really.

 

I did ceramic tint all around. 15% on the front two windows, 5%, or limo, on the rear and back window, and 50% on the windshield. Keeps it cooler in the Phoenix summers. Like my own little rolling cave.

 

That's where I'm at, just don't want legal attention. You have clarified something, I think. Ceramic has a bit of 'reflection' as opposed
to tint(darkening). So if I go with 50% ceramic on the front drivers / pass doors it would be same UV and heat reflection as 20% ceramic? But would let 30% more light in, so would be less likely to attract law enforcement. I'd say most of the guys here wouldn't
even notice 50% if it were on the side doors? Am I correct?

What else I wanted to ask, does clear ceramic reflect heat as effectively as darker?
I'm in Addison Tx today. Just landed. Be here a few days. Anyone recommend anyone here I can talk to?

 

Yes with ceramic you don’t have to go dark for UV blocking , so you can go light color or whatever if you want

and yes 50% won’t attract much attention, but you can check your local laws

Been tinting my vehicles darker than legal here in AZ for years and haven’t had an issue with the popo yet. I like the darker tint because I don’t like feeling like I’m driving a fish bowl.

How’s the visibility during the night?

 

Tinting the moon/sun roof was the best thing ever. I was highly surprised at how much heat the ceramic tint blocks. So much that I'll be taking the wife's Lexus back in to get hers done as well.

 

100%, my pano roof ceramic works awesome , don’t even need the shade anymore , can enjoy the light without getting cooked or glared to

For those of you with the pano roof tinted what shade did you go with?

I’m going back to my tinted for Global QDP Ceramic. He did my tundra back in December 33% on the fronts and over the rear factory and back glass.

Going to dive off the deep end and tint the full windshield in 70% and then was thinking 50% on the pano roof?

Any recos? My appointments on the 21st

 

You don’t need super dark tint to have privacy. You need super dark tint to make it look like you’re hiding something. I know some like that look for whatever their reasons, and I’m not arguing you shouldn’t, but night time visibility should be given a lot of consideration when making these decisions.

35 front windows

50 everywhere else including pano

15 ceramic on all the windows and rear glass, 70 on the windshield. Been doing the same set up one every truck for the last 10-15 years. Tried 50 on the windshield on my last taco and it’s too dark at night imo.

 

15 and you’d get pulled over like crazy here lol

 

Ok sweet I’m on the right track then. I’m certain on 70% for the windshield. The sunroof is what I’m kinda questioning

My last truck I did 15% on everything and a windshield brow it was really dark at night but I didn’t have a sunroof so I think that played into it

This time I went one shade up which was 33% I do really enjoy it

 

I don't have a photo anymore, but on my Tacoma I went as heat resistant and dark as I legally could in Texas. The sunlight and heat protection of the film was amazing. The darkness I should have plane better. Outside it looked amazing and almost blacked out. Inside it was significantly darker and made distance, and peripheral objects hard to see at night. I wish I gone a more medium dark. The Tundra I have came with a decent light medium front, darker rear tint and its fine for now. I might change it for the high UV nano ceramic whatever they call it film again. The sunlight reduction and heat reduction was great. Also it's Texas and summer can get nasty hot in the direct sun.

 

Darkness doesn’t matter with quality ceramic. As far as uv blocking etc my 80 windshield is the same as my 35 windows, just the amount of light is more

 

It’s not even dark in the south, the cops do 50 on there patrol cars windshields and limo on everything else.

never heard of anyone being pulled over for tint here. That’s wild
