What 10” sub do you want to use?
    Ported or sealed?
    What’s your budget?

    so many options…

I guess I've never thought of a budget. Definitely don't want to replace it down the road. What do you recommend?

A small box with a shallow sub can be fit, but may not do what you want. I went with a single DD Audio 12” in a ported box, but used Gately seat brackets to make more space.

Too many other options are available. Hop in some threads here and look for what you think will fit your needs and wallet.

I added the under seat storage. I've read that the gately seat brackets make you lose a couple inches?
Just can't seem to find a single shallow box. I've seen a double one from skar? Do you recommend ported?

James at tech12volts sells a single 10" subwoofer in a custom-made box for the 14 through 21 crew max. I believe it was built as replacement for the factory JBL subwoofer, but no reason you couldn't us it in a non JBL system.

The Gately brackets move your seat forward 3” and up 1”. Yes, you lose some space. But, I’m 6’ 2” tall and my 6’ 5” son can still ride behind me fine.

Ported vs. sealed is personal preference, as well as somewhat determined by the sub(s) you pick.

You want my opinion on the best enclosure for good sound and easy install? JL Stealth Box. 100%. Spendy, but great. No seat relocation needed.
Another option? Gately has a really bitchin’ box for (4) 8” subs. Unreal…. But, get out your wallet!

Ok. Sounds good. I have 2 kids in carseats still so if I were to add the gately still shouldn't be an issue. I would have never even thought of adding 8" for a sub. Single or dual 10"? I don't listen to anything with bass.

No real big bass? Maybe look at a woofer(s), rather than a subwoofer then.

A friend is going with a pair of these VO-W12 in his SQ install this winter. Can’t wait to hear them.

Another option is the JL Audio CP106LG-W3v3 MicroSub. This is what I did, and the results have been very satisfying. As with anything JL Audio, it's not cheap ($400) but this with the Kicker KEY500.1 amplifier has been everything I need for satisfying bass reproduction.

I originally bought this sub because I knew it would fit behind the back seat (driver side) between the steel seat mounts that protrude rearward shrinking the available space. This sub/amp combo is a perfect match and sound very good; the sub is ported but sounds more like a sealed sub. I did find that orienting the sub with the port facing thr left side of the truck was necessary. I'm an audiophile and booming overbearing bass is not something that interests me.

I need to find the time to make a post covering what I did to upgrade my trucks sound system, for about $1000 I was able to totally transform it. It's not perfect and there's room for improvement, but for the money......

Another option is the stereo integrity bm11. You can actually do 1,2.
You can probably do 3 with the Gately brackets.
But james at tech12volts makes an awesome box. He even goes the next step to put resin in the box to make sure there are no air gaps.
You can tell him what sub your wanting to use. he can make a single or double box.

But the bm11s are an awesome sub. I have 2 of the previous bm12mk5 behind the seat without the Gately seat brackets.

Hard to give you a good answer w/o more basic details about your rig. Crewmax vs DC makes a huge difference in what your options are...

Also, I know you were asking about a single 10, and I'm not sure what part of the country you're in, but one of our really good members here has a very good quality loaded dual 10 box for a crewmax in TX... It'll also give you an idea of the depth behind the rear crewmax seats (very shallow)!

    None at the moment
I'm in the same boat/ Crewmax lol....
And know nothing of audio stuff.
Sealed = sealed box & ported means air holes ??? I guess.. I'm wanting to re do the sounds in the truck by changing the stereo unit, speakers, amp and maybe a 10" sub.
Mines will be a budget system as I've always had and works fine for me
What I had in mind was 2 - 6x5 Fd and 2-5x5* Rd new tweeters up front and a 5 channel amp either Kenwood ,Kicker, Sony etc..
idk ATM whatevers on sale. The Wally by my house has pretty good brand 3way speakers and sub- boxes like a Pioneer pancake 10"
What difference will porting vs non porting will the sub make ??
Also if there's a better configuration do tell.

I decided on a Rockford Fosgate R2s-1x10 from Crutchfield. Now just need to pick a 5 channel amp and read up on replacing the no jbl amp under the passenger seat.
