I'm going to do a HID retrofit with the Mini D2S projectors. Who here has done one and what shrouds did you use? I'm liking the Gatling Guns, but looking for other suggestions.
Do you have halos behind the shrouds?

I think the 2nd gen Tundra headlights are PERFECT for a Q45 gatling gun projector swap.

This is all I have to say and I wish you the best with your project.

Please keep us posted on progress.

I had ls460s, king of the oem IMO, clear lens upgrade and tuned. With Philips CBB and CBI bulbs. Ran both.

    loved them

I've got Mini D2S 5.0's with Apollo 1.0 shrouds. Also mini Gatling Gun on the LED highs.

I like that. Did you use the Mini D2S for the highs as well? Didn't think about doing the highs.

Definitely do a lens off alignment before sealing them up. The highs seem to need a little extra vertical adjustment vs level with the reflector housing.

Definitely go with LED for the highs. HID takes too long to warm up to be effective flashers.

Flashing won't be an issue with the bi-xenon main projectors OP has picked out. But you're spot on for drop in HID kits (which are horrible regardless)

    I miss my retros....

even though I love the look of my 18+ tundra LED headlights, nothing compares to the output of tuned retros.

It's been 5 rock solid years on my OEM-ish looking bi-xenon budget build. G5-R and I don't know what the shroud is called. I did have to reseal one lense but I reused original butyl so that's a risk you take. Still the best upgrade I ever did on my old 4runner and this truck.

For the highs, I bought the GTR ultra 2.0 that were recommended by The Retrofit Source.. They were 20% off.

    Excellent!

Bi-xenon is great, but separate highs is far superior, especially if retrofitting and modifying.

I drive rockin fogs and DRLs, on ALL of our vehicles. If you don't have separate highs, signal flash doesn't work if the main beams aren't already on (and relying on HID).

Keep us posted on progress. The forum loves pics!

In my opinion, any of the round shrouds look good in the 2nd gen, especially if they’re backlit. Angel eyes are old enough to make a comeback, too. I stayed classy, but kept just a little flare when needed. I have a 2.5 gen, but pics are always cool for reference.

Nope, truck is an '07. I've almost retrofitted an adjustable set on accident, they are similar internally but not exactly the same.
