I am so torn! Was hoping to start a good thread of pics of aftermarket head units...different shapes and sizes...I am torn between the larger screen and the flush mount type (Dasaita is the one I have seen). My big concern is I don't want to see dead space between the screen and the dash. Let's see those pics!!! Thanks

You won't see any dead space unless you press your cheek to the dash. (Provided the install is done well. You can adjust height, depth, angle of the HU)

REALLY glad I went with the bigger screen, my close up vision ain't getting any better.

That is nice...what model? and did you buy the piece to go behind the head unit to eliminate the dead space separately?

I had the professionals do the install.

I do remember something about a dash kit on the invoice but it wasn't much, like $35 or something.

The Kenwood is a double din so there isn’t really space to fill.

I went down and took some pics for ya'...

You'd really have to be looking for it to see anything that looks like dead or unfinished space.

This is the only angle from which you'd see that and you'd never be at that angle, you'd literally have your cheek on the dash. It was a challenge to even get my phone in there for the pics.

From normal driver or passenger positions it's a non-issue.

(Okay, so maybe @Runway his buddy might be able to see, but there's something freaky goin' on there.):rofl::bananadance: https://www.tundras.com/threads/mystery-stain-on-the-dash.149802/#post-3742795

Here's a few of the Alpine at it’s closest position to the dash.

Oh wow, the Alpine's even closer.

Your Sirius presets/variety are very similar to mine.

It was kind of a toss-up between the Alpine and Kenwood when I was shopping. Really can't go wrong either way I think.

Kenwood had a sale going so it was a couple hundred cheaper, but the real reason it won out for me is 'cuz I like having a volume knob. Funny how such a small detail can be that important.

I've started looking around at new head units and really wanting something that fits close to the dash like the Alpine. I wasn't ready to pull the trigger when Best Buy had them so cheap but right now I'm leaning toward Trail Grid Pro for the plug & play simplicity. Does anyone know if the Alpine F511 and F509 fit the same? I'm assuming they do. Also, does the Sony 9500ES fit as close as the Alpine in @SD Surfer pics?

Actually mine is the Kenwood, @Azblue posted the Alpine.

My Kenwood, and I would imagine the others too, have adjustments in the mount for height, angle, and protrusion, so I'd guess any of them could be dialed in pretty close.

I told my installer that I didn't want it sticking up above the dash real high, and to put it at what he thought would be the best angle to reduce glare. I think it could be angled in a little more to be tighter to the dash but might have more glare.

Whoops! Sorry for the mix up. I do like the height setting you have your Kenwood at. Most of the pics I've seen of the larger screen aftermarket units show them more vertical and away from the dash. I'm sure this helps with glare. Thanks for the input!

FYI, after some Goldilocks trial and error with phone mounts, this little magnetic doohickey at the bottom left of the HU puts my phone right next to the HU and doesn't vibrate... finally found one I like!

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PRBJTFT?ie=UTF8&th=1

I'd post a pic of it on the mount, but I can't figure out how to take a picture of my phone... with my phone.
