Just got my 2025 in a standard bed configuration (78"). Winter is coming which means go time and most accessory websites still don't include 2025.

Is it safe to assume 2024 box covers such as Bakflip MX4 work completely fine for a 2025?

Thanks! Shopping for best pricing can be exhausting. Regular 1709cdn found for $1539 but listing for 22-23 Tundra yet same product manufacture number so good to go for placing on 25.

I got the Bison Tonneau, I believe it is a clone of the Bakflip. Very happy with it so far. Maybe check them out.

I was about to pull the trigger on the Bakflip MX4 but the loss of the cleat tie downs is an issue for me. On my Tacoma the MX4 dropped the cleat rail so you still had it. I use those cleats so much in addition to the 4 tie down hooks on the bed.

Like another person said the loss of these cleats is a step in the wrong direction for Bak Industries.

Anyone using the Toyota tri fold cover? It's made by Bakflip and is the MX4. Do they have a drop down bracket for the cleat system?

I always double check on the manufacturers website for the part number. They usually update their info before 3rd party sellers.

I’m running the tonneau cover off my 2020 tundra on my 3rd Gen and it fits as good or better than it did on the 2020

It is significantly cheaper. Do you retain the cleat tie down bars and system?

Are you talking about the sliding tie down rail? You don’t lose that with the Toyota OEM tri-fold

Yes, the rails where you can move the cleats depending what you're trying to secure in your box. I used them all the time in my Tacoma and would have a hard time to break that habit if I don't have them on the Tundra.

Bakflip MX4 is $1539 cdn. Toyota version of it is close to $2000. I wonder if I can pickup from bakflip then pickup the relocation bar from Toyota if it would be cheaper than going with the Toyota.

    Decisions decisions.

The Undercover is out. While better finish with LineX the setup for standing it completely up looks weaker than Bakflip, and still no retention of the tie down cleat system. Also the Undercover Armor Flex is several hundred more than the Bakflip MX4.

    Lots of stuff!
With all the snow that is going to pile up on your truck, check to see how the covers handle the added weight.

I have a Diamondback for that reason, I wanted something that could carry my recreational toys and truck tent as well as handle the extra load. They are on the pricey side but you might be able to find a slightly used one at a great price.

You can put some d rings in the existing cleats during install, that's what I did with my mx4. I got 3 rings running on each side.

FYI the mx4 isn't waterproof. I'm getting random drips and the sides taken in water. Just in case you weren't aware.

Is this something new? I have the MX4 on my 2023 Tundra, and I did not lose the tie down cleats and slider rails.

Yes there was a recent version change. All the ones recently I think from 2024 does not drop the cleat bar down. If you want to retain any form of utility, you will need to replace the bulky toyota cleats with something lower profile like D rings.

Hmm, my MX4 didn't do anything to hinder the function of the rail or cleats. I've got the bulky heavy duty ones.

I installed an MX4 on my Tundra. When I purchased the tonneau I was not aware that the design had changed to eliminate the drop down rails. I found that the oversized thumb screws got in the way so I replaced them with nuts. It means that if I am going to move the cleat I need a 5/16 wrench to loosen and tighten the cleat but other than avoiding positioning the cleat where the slam latches are located the cleats work fine. I don't move them much anyways.

The drop rail would be handier but this is a reasonable compromise.

When I looked at the Backflips (2022) there was an option for trucks with the factory rails to maintain them, and an option for the trims that didn't have them

My unit was purchased in Canada and the dealer that I purchased from does not offer the options for a vehicle with or without rails. It's possible that Real Truck offers that option but the Canadian dealer chose to not import the kit that includes dropping down the rails.

Lovely area in B.C. I am in Ontario.
I checked the RealTruck web site and the drop down rail mounts are not available from them for the 2024 MX4 tonneau. Maybe RealTruck pulled the kit after 2023??
There is a rail drop kit available for Gen 2 trucks but not for my 2024 Gen 3.
