I am very interested in replacing the stock light bar on my ‘24 TRD Pro with the BD S8 20” replacement. My question is, can I still use the TRD light bar button that comes with the truck or do I have to drill and use the provided switch?

Does Baja Designs help with picking correct Lights for Zones 1-5 based on popular front bumpers from C4 Fabrication or CBI ? Gotta admit................I get a bit lost on the Baja Designs website. The only thing that is really clear to me is which lightbar I need, 30inch vs 40 inch...............but no real guidance on when to select S2 vs Squadron vs XL vs LP.

There's only so much real estate on the front of a Tundra.........The Bumper manufacturers dont seem to have accurate details on which light models fit their own bumpers.

We're happy to help over here at Hotshot Offroad as well. I am familiar with the real-life output profiles of every product that BD sells, and have even done a couple of YT vides about the topic! Give me a call, and you can fire away with whatever questions you've got. 406-936-0206

    Hey @HGParrish004,

When creating a lighting package for your RIG, there are numerous options for light and lens patterns. The choice depends on your driving style and specific use case. If you don't have any auxiliary lights on your RIG, I suggest starting with lower placement and gradually moving up (fog lights, bumper, A-pillar, roof). This approach ensures you maximize front-facing light while minimizing obstructions. The choice between the variety of lens we offer will depend on placement of the lights. If you have a certain questions or would like more information about how to get your lighting package dialed send me an email at bill@bajadesigns.com and I could help you out.

    Best,
    Bill

I take back my comment with regard to CBI. They do have options to choose BD light models. So assuming those models fit their bumpers.

Not the same level of detail on the C4 Fabrication website.

I’ll just call them both and see what they have to say.

@HGParrish004 reach out to Colton (aka @memario1214 ). He runs Hotshot Offroad and is a vendor here on tundras.com and carries the entire Baja Designs lineup. Cool dude and when you buy from him it’s tax free + free shipping. Can save you a bunch of money on big ticket items. The guy knows pretty much every bumper made for each Toyota vehicle and can tell you exactly what would fit in your bumper. Post up a pic of your bumper and lights when you get em!

What’s up all, I have serious issues with the fog light housings breaking off the plastic tabs that are supposed to hold them in place. So the BD’s fogs are slightly heavier and cause the cheap plastic fog light housing to break.

does anyone know where to purchase a metal framed fog lights housing for 2018 Tundra?

I do a lot of off roading so I’m sure the constant jarring of the metal housing of the fogs vs the plastic just eats it up.

nothing is more aggravating than having good light I can’t use because they aren’t straight or they’re just loose and vibrating

I got some Baja Design lights for my Limited (s2 fog, s2 reverse, S8 grille and s8 bumper) as well as an spod touchscreen with the 8 slots baxtamx. I'm here for some collective knowledge from the group or from the fine folks at @Baja Designs sorry if this seems obvious but I haven't got them yeti with me so I can't really check the harnesses and connections but here's my plan and I wanna make sure it's all possible

    1) the obvious is of course connection the two s8 grille as well as bumper to two of the slots in the bantamx
    2) I'm probably only doing a fuse tap for the bumper s8 backlit and would like to connect the grille s8 backlit to another slot in the bantamx, I'm assuming this is fine to do
    3) now here's what I'm most curious about. I want to replace the 3 way switch for the s2 reverse light and use 2 slots in the bantamx, one for always on and another one to light up the lights when reserve is engaged. I'm assuming this is also possible, I'd potentially only have to split the black/negative/ground wire for the two bantamx slots. does that make sense?

planning to install my S2 fogs plug and play and use the oem fog light switch, not connected to the bantamx

can anyone tell me if this is all doable? thank you!

    Question for the collective

trying to figure out the best way to connect my reverse kit to bantamx using one slot for always on and another for reverse on, the only thing I could think is to

    1) obviously have one channel send power straight to the S2, basic ON/OFF case

    2) have the reverse kit connected straight to the relay that comes with the kit and use a second bantamx slot to send power to the lights through the relay

While this seems like it will work I’m not sure if I’m gonna run into problems connecting both positive wires from the first slot and the relay. Is this okay to do?

    Bantamx Slot 1 ————————|-> S2s
    Bantamx Slot 2 ——- relay ——-|
    Reverse tap —————-|

is there any combination of on/off/reverse that would cause a problem?

Does the Bantam have a trigger wire like the switch pro that you could use? I would definitely use diodes if you’re planning to wire it the way you described

it has but I’d have no option to no have the light on when in reverse if I use it to trigger the switch. Need to investigate the manual to see

seems like adding a diode is a good idea!

Not sure how the bantam is set up but with the SP, you can go in and turn the trigger on/off. If you plan on changing this setting frequently then you’ll need another switch designated for this. If you only do it one a month or so, then might be worth jumping into the app and doing it.

End up deciding not to connect to my reverse light, not much of a reason since I can simply turn on/off when I want/need, it was already a nightmare passing the wire all the way to the engine bay and I don’t need to use another slot on the bantamx as well

Do people still inline fuse their lights and other equipment connected to the bantamx or maybe use the bantamx setup to set a max amp for the channel? Or both or neither…

Edit to say I found the answer to my question

Q: Do I still need to use a relay and fuse that came with my accessory?
A: No, The sPOD system has solid-state circuit protection for up to 30AMPS per circuit. If the accessory draws more than 30AMPS, then an external relay will be required.

Got my grille S8 installed Today, next is the A-Pillar LP4, got the backlight trigger tapped into the fuse box, but still on different slots. Might put all the backlights on the same bantamx slot if I end up needing more than 8

    Hey @VTYOTER,

That's correct! The 10ft extension is the right 2-pin extension for the S1, and it’s the longest we offer. If you need more length, you can add an additional extension to reach your desired distance. If you are interested in getting this item on order, feel free to shoot me a PM and I can get you going with a forum special.

Question, any reason to use switch trigger tapped into IGR instead of using trigger input 2 as ignition ON so I can use the app to select auto-on/ignition-only, etc? Would the switch go off when I turn off the car? Haven’t tested yet but trying to get some ideia if what I’m thinking is correct. Also is the timeout ignored if I have power in the trigger 2?

Anyone seen this happen with the touchscreen? It was working perfectly until I installed my LP4s, now it's like these, I unplugged everything from the bantamx, left disconnected from battery, tested a new network cable. I'm out of ideas on what the problem might be.

sent you an e-mail, but to answer no. The touchscreen is working fine now. I have some issues with dry climate and it appears to have been some static discharge that ended up causing / fixing the screen issue. It seems I just need to be careful when I touch the touchscreen leaving / entering the car.
