I got mine done last week ceramic 15% on the front, 50% on the back. On top of the factory dye, the tech said it comes out to about 12% up front and 10% on the back.

I got my windshield done about a month ago with CTX ceramic. There is a slight orange peel effect. It is amplified at night by other cars' headlights and is driving me nuts. I've never had anything tinted before. Is this normal?

I am interested to know the level of tinting or dark glass (front side and rear side) that is installed on the new stock Tundra when it is received from the factory.

20-24%. A good tint shop will have a meter that can measure it.

Hoping to get my truck tinted soon. I was surprised that the factory windshield on my 1794 doesn't have the top few inches tinted! But with this much smaller windshield, compared to the Gen2, that would be 1/2 of the windshield! :)

My son does tinting so he did all my windows in 20% ceramic tint, he simply tinted over the privacy glass for the 2nd row and rear glass. After reading so many positives reviews I'm going to get him to tint my windshield, the 2 problems are tinting the windshield is illegal in Virginia and we still have the state revenue source of a state inspection so he'll have to cut out a small area for the dealership to apply the new sticker each year.

As I've gotten older it's become tougher to see at night so I went with a lighter tint, I wanted the ceramic tint for the UV protection with the saddleback interior. I could have gone darker to match the back privacy glass but having driven his Tacoma with darker 35% tint I didn't like how dark it made everything at night.

I went 80% on the windshield and you can't even tell from the outside, they would have to put a meter on it to tell.

but its AWESOME, it cuts the glare down a lot and heat blocking is awesome. I went 35 front windows and 50% everywhere else including the pano roof

I've been thinking about ceramic tint for a while but have had a nagging question.... I've read in other threads where people have supposed electrical gremlins pop up after the install. From what I've read, they blame it on the water used during the install process. If it's true that they have had actual problems due to the water, is that an installer that was careless or inexperienced, or is it something I shouldn't worry about? My old eyes could use reduced glare at night. TIA.

That's exactly why I haven't gotten my windshield tinted, I know my luck and it worries me it may damage something with the amount of water used. I'm torn on getting it done and if I get it done I'll go to a professional place to get it done.

I had no problems whatever with my truck after the install, its due to the installer being careless with the shit load of water used

the place I went has been around forever and really specializes in this so they due a great job, I also got our 2023 25th anneversya Sienna done with the entire vehicle as well and not a single problem

I also have the HUD and it works great. I think if you talk to a reputable shop and tell them about others having issues and to be extra diligent it would be fine, all they have to do is prep the area right.

    its worth it guys

Use a reputable shop and they will do everything properly. Have had my last 3 vehicles windshields tinted and never had an issue. Does help a lot with heat and does reduce some glare at night. I have 70% on my windshield so you can’t tell it’s even tinted.

Any chance the ceramic tint will help with the horrible glare/reflection we get on this truck coming from the hood, particularly when driving into the sun?

It doesn’t help much. Best solution for me is just good polarized glasses. But even then it doesn’t do much. You’d be better off wrapping the hood with vinyl film to prevent the glare

I’m confused. 5% is limo tint. As dark as it gets. So 20% is darker than 35%? Is that
not correct? I’ve seen straight 35% ceramic on plain front door glass and it’s nice but not
effecting seeing out at night. We legally aren’t allowed any tint on the two front doors
but some new vehicles can’t even see in the front so I’m not sure how aggressive they go after
lightly coated ceramic. On my reg cab I’m thinking of doing 35% on one door and 50% on the other.
Then just paying for the third door to do the one that I figure is better but won’t get me busted.
If you guys post pics, please post straight from the side. As soon as there’s angle any actual
Assessment of darkness is pretty much a guess. This is helping the only thing is finding decent
    Tinting specialist in Vancouver BC.

The number represents how much visible light can pass through. So the higher the number the higher amount of light that can pass through. This is way 70% tint is virtually transparent cause it allows 70% of visible light to pass through. As the number goes lower the less light that can pass through, therefore giving the lower number percentage. 35% isn’t really that dark and what I have on my front two windows and can see just fine while driving at night. The privacy glass on the back windows along with the 25% I did on those windows makes them very dark at night time. But I have the digital rear view mirror so I haven’t had much issues with visibility at night through the back windows.

I just had Llamar Pinnacle 25% installed on the front windows and they match the rears super well. Likely do the sunroof and windshield before next summer.

I have ceramic 20% on the front sides and 35% on all the rears. I can still see perfectly at night. The 20% on the front is just enough privacy.

This is my confusion. If you have 20% on front it should be darker than the rear. Looks like
35% on front and 20% on rear? It does look good, I might get away with 35%.

The 35% tint for the rear is on top of the factory stained glass. It comes out to somewhere under 10% I think.

    yes, this ^

This is why I only went 50% back there, it still makes it pretty dark, you could do even lighter (higher numerical number) back there if you trying to match upfront with 35%

20% or less is a no go around here, yes it does add privacy , but thats the problem, you'll get pulled over doing that much.

so that could be an option for some, go like 70% or even more in the rear and then 35% or 50% up front.

my pics were 35% up front, 50% other spots for reference. I don't mind the front is a little lighter than the back in some light angles doesnt bother me, its all worth the heat reduction and protecting the interior

I could probably get away with 35% where I live. 50% for sure but it's close

Maybe this will help... I am considering doing what BB has done, 80% on the windshield which lets 80% of the light through. I have a friend that had his windshield done but he says he went with 20%, so 20% of the light is blocked. I know for a fact you can barely tell his tint is there so it appears that my friend and BB have the same amount of tint, just stating it differently. Based on what I've read, it's probably more correct to ask for 80% but I'm definitely going to make sure I'm on the same page with the installer before proceeding. Hopefully this makes sense. If I'm totally off base I'm sure BB will let us know:thumbsup:

yes, you want 80%, that means 80% of the light coming through, thats how you talk with the installer.

you don't want 20% on the windshield, lol.

good luck man and post some pics after you get it done, you'll love the heat block, and glare reduction
