Sorry but the minute the "why is my ex better then you" part came out of her mouth that would be it for me. Know your worth; took me a while to get to that point. It's not relationships or woman necessarily it's being with the right person (oil and water don't mix right) and knowing you deserve better than verbal or mental abuse.

Married to a counselor and did I learn a few things. Don't settle and don't think that there's no one else.

 

Keep your head up and realize you are worth more than that.

i was with my ex wife for 13+ years. Great woman. Meaner than snakes, kinder than an angel. Drove me into the ground mentally and financially. Said some mean shit I didnt know bothered me until I started working on myself. I was about to move west and live remote because I was done with it all Randomly met my new wife. We have a kid now and I wouldnt trade any of this for anything. I gave up, focused on me and found gold.

My advice to anyone, the second you are compared to someone else like that, its time to go. I am not afraid of ex talk, but "blank did it better," go see them then.

 

On the flip side, my wife occasionally likes to tell funny stories about what a psycho her ex was.

As a guy that got a lot of dating practice and only married recently (age 47) you need to EJECT.

You aren't going to change her so if you aren't happy, you don't want to waste any more time on her or worse, marry her.

Dump her, take a break from dating, focus on weight lifting and exercise, making yourself more interesting. Women worth marrying are turned on by adventurous lives and those guys that can fix things. My wife's dad is a DIY and she told me "you fixing things reminds me of my dad." Oedipus Complex is a real thing, women instinctively want a man like their fathers. At the time we met I was a ski instructor and skydiver. Neither is a cheap hobby but when I was into those things dates were pretty easy to come by. Being super fit helped too, so work on making your body fit and your mind full. Good luck.

 

OP, I want to add, hope this isn't offensive to you. I feel religion, education level, and personality are "Must Haves." Mine checked all the boxes, a real break from the previous girls I dated. I feel in love three times before her (fell into infatuation / lust actually) and had my heart broken by each one. I tended to fall for a type of woman that wasn't worth having.

My wife I made a break from all of that. I don't know what kind of girls you date but you might want to take some time off and during that time really figure out what you want long-term. Me, I went with very traditional, conservative, almost libertarian. She's crazy into fitness, adventurous, not really scared of anything. Today my wife climbed a tree to trim it and when that didn't work, she was up on the 10-foot step ladder trimming what parts of the tree she could reach. I did the support role. She operates all my equipment and we are in the process of buying a dump truck. She (like me) prefers a manual shift and that's what we hope to buy.

My wife carries the same daily loadout I do which includes a handgun. On the job she open carries. As soon as her holster comes in, she'll carry the Browning 1911-380 I bought her. A lady that carries cocked and locked? WHOA! Hot, fit, petite, educated, caring, conservative, and dangerous---just what I decided I wanted.

She definitely isn't upset by older vehicles, actually she wants a two-tone 1954 Chevy convertible, manual shift. She isn't perfect but none of us are. She makes me a better person, especially when she demanded marriage day we start going to church. Most mornings she has the bible set out for me, that day's passages book marked. That's exactly what I asked God to send me "when I was ready." He did.

Figure out who and what you are, find a woman that makes you a better man, marry her.

A friend of mine was in the process of proposing when his GF said "I think we should see other people."

He was devastated. I think he stayed dunk for two weeks straight. He got his money back on the ring, spent that cash on a kayak, and kayaked all over. Later he became an ice climber and climbed 100 foot frozen waterfalls. (I'm not kidding).

In time his X GF tried to get back with him but he wouldn't have it. She went on to become a total socialist nutcase (I recall her FB posts).

He did pretty much whatever he wanted, including opening a machine gun manufacturing business (really fun to visit his shop, let me tell you).

Feel bad alone? Make yourself better. Get into shape. Exercise is one of the best things one can do for emotional state and self satisfaction. I like the P90X routine but it is very dependent on free weights.......lots of free weights. The bands work but wear safety glasses, you can absolutely lose an eye if one breaks loose and people have. Senator Harry Reid did just that.

Build something. In 2007 when I got my heart broken, I set about building rifle racks and that was great! Stained and poly'ed them. Turned out wonderful and I learned a lot about staining. Lean new skills. Lean how to market yourself for the future.

Chicks love guys that can fix things, build things, do the stuff guys used to be able to do.

Chicks are instinctively attracted to a man that can play an instrument. It's a fact. Learn how to play the piano or just a guitar. Also, adventure. Guys that get a lot of women tend to have adventurous spirits. For a time I was both a skydiver (every weekend type) and a ski instructor. Teaching ski lessons had the added benefit of keeping me in amazing shape with no gym visits. Plus, you get paid to have fun. Getting dates was a breeze and with women that were physically fit.....you have to be fit to ski.
