Best I can do, and this is my serious answer. Not stirring the pot.

1. Honestly, I'm too far out of the game to give an informed answer. I don't ever follow triple digit price vehicles so the cream of the crop is never on my radar. I couldn't tell you what the latest Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, or McLaren model is; let alone how advance any of them are.
2. Is going to get bullets as there's a few IMO.
   • As stated previously, Tesla lacks flow in the interior display. They need an actual dash/instrument cluster screen. It could pull a few of the tabs out of the head unit and clean it up some.
   • They lack "good" unpowered egress options on some models. Getting out of the car needs to be simple in emergency situations. This counteracts their high safety scores IMO.
   • I know it's against the aesthetic theme, and other manufacturers do it do, but taking away all the physical buttons for HVAC and audio is a huge miss.
   • I don't think Tesla has HUD in any of their vehicles, do they?
   • This one's not really a feature, but it is something to think about: The ability to be easily "refueled" roadside, or to carry extra fuel. The value of a jerry can or two is something that Teslas will always be missing.

All that said, if I had a garage and were buying a second car tomorrow it'd be a used Model 3 Long Range AWD. As a commuter and short road tripper, it's hard to beat.

 

Same reason they can't give you door handles or a regular dash. Ego.

 

1. Usual use case doesn't take away from value of features. You're thinking like the auto journos who rate the Maverick and Ridgeline as the best trucks.
2. F150 has more tech options. There is no feature in the Tundra that the F150 doesn't also have, so far as I know. Blue Cruise alone puts the F150 ahead of the Tundra in tech. You also get more tech at lower trims with the F150 getting LED headlights, 12" center screen, and full digital dash as standard on the most basic truck.

 

I might actually be in that category with my F150 now. LOL

That said, the tailgate not opening isn't going to trap anyone in the burning vehicle after a wreck.

Your argument of egress without 12V power in a wreck is hypothetical.

Of the thousands of Tesla car wrecks, I haven't heard of one situation like that. It would be plastered all over the news.

It's a risk I would not be willing to take with my children in the back seat. Personal choice, but it stays on my list. Your list is your own to do with as you see fit.

my point being - it's a decent iteration of an EV truck.

 

We showed our girls right away how to get out in an emergency if the door button doesn't work.

It's a non-issue, I'm not a "what if" guy at all. It's off the list!

 

I'm going to lay low on this door thing....as we have no idea how to open the rear doors of the X if power fails.

Even if you're not concerned with the wreck scenario, the inconvenience is irritating.

The fact that there has to be an aftermarket dash is sad. I consider this a failure on Tesla's part. We moved away from having the instrument panel in the middle of the dash several decades ago for a reason.

 

Is the summon feature on all of them, or is that part of the FSD stuff that's super expensive?

 

That's still an added cost over base, right?

 

I got it on the latest update. I don't have EAP or FSD
