I know there have been some threads already but I’m getting myself all confused trying to sort through them, so figured I’d just put my exact question/info out there…

I have the Diode Dynamic Ditch Light kit installed… the portion of the wiring harness that runs into the cab includes 3 wires:

    Red - Power In
Blue - Power Out for Backlight
Yellow - Power Out for Ditch Lights

I don’t like the plain toggle switch they include, so I’m going to get the Cali Raised or AliExpress version to run the lights…

that being said, does anyone know if there is a wire under the dash somewhere that I could connect the Blue backlight wire to so that the backlights of the Pods come on when the DRLs are engaged on the headlight stalk?

    thanks in advance!

this will work for the switches backlight, but I’m referencing the Diode Dynamics ditch light backlight… I’d like to have those backlights on when the DRLs are on…

sorry, my post got cut off… I have edited it to finish…

Got it. I tapped into an ignition fuse so they turn on as soon as the truck is running

Sadly adding a heavier load to and existing circuit is never a good idea. Best bet is to use the load out to dtrl’s to trigger a relay(which has minimal draw) and run your fused hot from the battery. You could probably use the hot you pulled for the ditch lights

so let’s say I give up on the DRL connection, and just want the ditch light backlights on when ignition is on, could I theoretically just use the hot that runs to the cigarette plug up behind the radio (since it’s unused)? Wouldn’t that hot wire already be fused ?

Yup. The fuse will pop if you "overload" it
