Meh, nobody should be buying a truck if you care about mpg anyway, focus on the 479 at 2,400 or the ton more of the hybrid , that’s where it’s at:burp:

I'm by no means a GM motor expert, nor an expert on AFM/DoD, but I've always heard that AFM/DoD simply can't be done reliably. The fact that Toyota never dipped their toes in that pool seems supportive of that notion too. I mean if it was simply an oil change interval issue wouldn't we likely see some savvy consumers figure that out and there'd be quite a few 300k+ mile AFM equipped trucks out there

Isn't the engine block on the 6.2 aluminum? Just seems like with enough time and the uneven heat distribution from AFM shutting off cylinders you will eventually have issues with warpage. Aluminum is light weight and strong enough for engine applications but compared to cast iron it seems to be more susceptible to warping due to issues with heat.

I think a bunch of people got one with no AFM during the chip shortage, maybe those will last longer, who knows.

the rest of the truck is lacking from what I tested, the GM 10 isnt great either, nowhere near the AISIN 10. I think if you go GM, yo go HD and pass on the 1/2 tons

Do the GM heavy duty trucks have AFM/cylinder deactivation?

GM HD diesel is the best set up going from what I’ve heard around town… best of the current HD diesel offerings at least. . But it’s pricey.

just so pricey and really not good for shorter trips, etc. but for longer hauls and towing, ya nothing pulls like that

guess yours is even more of a car then eh?

lower payload, lower towing, less power, less torque, higher car like torque peak:p

Yes. The new diesels don’t like low speed town driving all the time. They seem to need to be on the highway.

According to your metric of no issues, must be a great truck, my 6 year Tundra is the best plus my 4 year old daily driver Chevy Silverado 4 banger turbo much better than Toyotas turbo six because no issues or motor replacement recall, right?

My Tundra can handle your heavy golf clubs load too.

I have no idea dude, you're the one trolling and calling the gen 3 a car repeatedly, etc.

We all know you don't like it and like to troll the gen 3 forum, fine, have at it, everyone here knows how you feel and I suspect not many care.

    have a good one!

You live here, downplaying all the folks that have had real issues, being a cheerleader and arguing with any noting issues that Toyota should address to get their truck reputation back. If Toyota leaders read your constant posting, there would be no recall on anything including the motor, gas line and brakes. We all know who you are too.

BB had experience with a 2nd gen and now with a 3rd gen. You only have one of those and yet you are on his ass for just stating what his comparative results are? He is aware of the recall, I can guarantee you that, and has stated that he’ll keep driving (and boosting) his truck until it fails, or doesn’t. Many of us that share his situation also mirror his sentiments on the matter. Maybe just stick to commenting on what you know instead of telling others how they should feel and react. You’re entitled to your negativity and opinions but don’t be surprised if others don’t share it, especially if you’re the lesser equipped to render an experience based point of view.
