I'm having my silver door trim pieces painted and to do that I removed them from the door panel, taking out the 4 silver screws and cutting the plastic welds.

Looking at reinstalling these trim pieces, it appears that if I acquired more of those wide head silver screws I wouldn't need to JB weld the previous weld spots. Instead just screw into those spots.

    Anyone try this?

Someone here removed and painted those pieces on their daughters truck. I'll see if I can find that post.

I used screws and washers on all of mine. No issues at all. Was glad I did because one was scratched and I took it out and repainted it.

I did mine with screws and the fitment wasn’t as good as before. Plus. The trim piece seemed more loose then when glued. Bothered me enough to pull it apart again and glue it too. Tighter, no gaps or looseness. All depends on how picky you are.

I can see how it was loose. If mine was loose I would have done the save. I was very careful removing the plastic welds and used washers and decent screws with bigger thread so I could get a good bite. It worked and have had zero issues or complaints.

I used screws on the tabs that wouldn't sit flush and apply on the others. Worked great

What size screws did you guys use? I was thinking of #8 wood screw 1/2" long with a washer. I've had no luck with PC-7 and jb weld epoxies.

I used two on two doors. The trim in two spots wouldn't sit against the door correctly, so I screwed them in and used apoxy on the rest. Looking back I may take off the doors, remove the screws now that the other welds are holding it tightly in place and apoxy those screw spots as well.
