Steering Wheel Position Sensor

    So I have this weird issue, which I’m not sure if anyone else has. Every time I turn the steering and accelerate it just cuts off power and the traction starts blinking. I’ve replaced all wheel speed sensors, adjusted my U bolt, changed rear leaf bushes (then went ahead and even got a new set of deaver leaf pack) and finally the steering clock spring.

    The last thing I figured to change is the steering wheel position sensor. Now I got that off eBay, and I’ve gone all over hunting on the web trying to get a DIY video. Can someone help out?

    Your system has a bad calibration and thinks you are turning more aggressively than you are and then cuts the power to keep you under control when you accelerate . G@d forbid we let drivers deal with these things. Have you done a zero point calibration? That is the only way to set the steering angle on these vehicles. Easy to do with paper clips. Instructions on this site

    fyi, the steering angle sensor is inside the clock spring assembly. At least i think it is. It was on the tacoma.

    If the previous suggestion does not remedy the issue, I would look at ABS sensors and their wiring for damage.

    Sounds like the truck THINKS is slipping and cuts engine power (and blinks light).

    So I gave this ‘zero calibration’ a try. And yes I went through the entire process with a beep sound towards the end of the steps. Assuming it reset the ecu, I took it out for a drive and yeah we still have the issue.

    @COTundie - I’ve replaced all 4 sensors, gonna give the wirings a try to.

    Right after I change the wheel position sensor. I’m gonna try the zero calibration once again after that. Fingers crossed I hope this works.

    did you do the clear procedure first? it doesn't reset. you have to clear the old calibration first, then create a new one.

    You can put a scanner on it and observe the 4 wheel speeds. if they are identical while going in a staight line, it is not the sensors or the wiring.
