Hello, new to the group. I have a 17 sequoia sr5. When moonroof is in full open position motor will briefly engage as if to close, will do this repeatedly. Does anyone know procedure for initializing roof?
    Thank you,
    Pat

This is on my '21 Tundra... I'd imagine it would be the same or similar for your rig as well; either way, the initialization procedure should be in your Owner's Manual under 'Opening / Closing Windows and Moonroof'. The manual then gives initialization procedure for the windows and then the moonroof. For me it's page 179... If you look at the last paragraph below, it gives the procedure after battery disconnect. I'd probably start here by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, re-connect power, then do the procedure as outlined below or within your own owner's manual.

    Good luck!!!!

    ■ When the moon roof does not close normally Perform the following procedure:●If the moon roof closes but then re-opens slightly

    1. 1 Stop the vehicle.
    2. 2 Press and hold the “ ▼ ” (sliding close) switch.*1The moon roof will close, reopen and pause for approximately 10 sec- onds.*2 Then it will close again, tilt up and pause for approximately 1 sec- ond. Finally, it will tilt down, open and close.
    3. 3 Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the switch.
●If the moon roof tilts down but then tilts back up

    1. 1 Stop the vehicle.
    2. 2 Press and hold the “UP” (tilt up) switch*1 until the moon roof moves into the tilt up position and stops.
    3. 3 Release the “UP” (tilt up) switch once and then press and hold the “UP” (tilt up) switch again.*1The moon roof will pause for approximately 10 seconds in the tilt up posi- tion.*2 Then it will adjust slightly and pause for approximately 1 second. Finally, it will tilt down, open and close.
    4. 4 Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the switch.
    1. *1: If the switch is released at the incorrect time, the procedure will have to be performed again from the beginning.
    2. *2: If the switch is released after the above mentioned 10 seconds pause, automatic operation will be disabled. In that case, press and hold the “ ▼ ” (sliding close) or “UP” (tilt up) switch, and the moon roof will tilt up and pause for approximately 1 second. Then it will tilt down, open and close. Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the switch.
If the moon roof does not fully close even after performing the above proce- dure correctly, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.

3-5. Opening, closing the windows and moon roof 181

    ■ Moon roof open reminder functionThe buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the multi-information display

in the instrument cluster when the engine switch is turned off and the driver’s door is opened with the moon roof open.

    ■ When the battery is disconnectedThe moon roof must be initialized in order to ensure proper operation.
    1. 1 Push and hold the switch toward the “UP” (tilt up) side or “ ▼ ” (sliding close) side.
    2. 2 After the moon roof will tilt up and down, release the switch.
    3. 3 To ensure the initialization is complete, make sure automatic opening and

      closing functions work properly.
