That is just fine, since it is your choice to wait on the sidelines while Toyota sorts this out. I decided to buy a 24, since I know if my truck is recalled, Toyota will stand behind the repair. If the truck has a subpar repair job, as you mention, I will decide about trading it in at that point.

I also choose not to worry about it if and until any of that happens. Since you chose to remain on the sidelines, you are not affected, even potentially at this time. For those whose trucks have indeed failed or are in the shop, I can only commiserate and hope their trucks are repaired quickly and to their satisfaction.

Having said all of that, I have no need or desire to engage in endless bickering that serves no purpose and certainly helps no one. Can't we just all get along and enjoy a more civil discussion?

My truck is approaching 4k miles, and I have enjoyed every one of them. So far, so good. :D

100% on civility, especially from a few 3rd gen owners who aren’t as pragmatic about their situation as you are. Having said that, this thread is always going to address 3.4TT failures and headaches re: repairs. You’ve already walked down that road and made a decision to buy with all the info available at the moment. I am on the same road, just a couple exits behind you. In fact, as Toyota fans and Tundra owners, I’d hazard to guess we are all waiting for some certainty around this recall and the repair.

I'm not concerned about my engine blowing up. What I am concerned about is my engine blowing up when I pass someone in their Prius driving too slow in the hammer lane..... How embarrassing.....

As a Tundra owner, I would like certainty, and I think the provision of long blocks goes far enough in the right direction, since short blocks were simply a half-assed attempt at a quality remedy. And I say that not as a Toyota fan, but as a long time vehicle owner who tries to make the best choice for my needs depending on what is available in the market at any given time that fits my budget.

After looking at my options, over time, and in no particular order and not a complete list:

I bought a Corvette rather than a Porsche or a fake BMW "Supra". But I bought an LS rather than an Audi, BMW or Mercedes sedan. I bought an BMW M3 rather than the IS-F. I bought a Grand Caravan rather than a Sienna. I bought a Landcruiser rather than Tahoe. And I bought a Tundra rather than a GMC or F-150.

Yes, I admit I am an idiot. But I have been pretty satisfied with my choices, which have turned out to be more good than bad overall. :D

Clearly, that piece of crap left front suspension is made of rice noodles since it moved back one foot after hitting a little pebble. Toyota quality sure ain't wot it yoosta be! :D

    I missed a lot in 24 hours.
This is a good reminder. It seems two folks ARE the echo chamber. One has posted over 150 times in this single thread. It would be fine if they’d post something useful or constructive. Instead, they regurgitate what they’ve already said. I just posted this week for Troll Controll. :boink:

Owning both I feel I’m fairly objective. I’d call them out if they were spewing misinformation about the Gen2’s as well. Speaking of, I’ve had none of the issues on my Gen2 mentioned above. I’ve had plenty of minor issues but as stated, 99% didn’t leave me stranded. Believe it or not I bought the Gen3 because I needed something reliable.
    .:crapstorm:

Lastly, I don’t want to give BB an eye-tick but mine has had mud on it for over a week! Maybe I’ll break out the Dawn soap and tap water now.

Even the valley plate and timing chain issue are pretty minor, say in comparison to munched up main bearings.

The timing chain issue seemingly has caused no verifiable failures, just annoyed many owners. And the valley plate will warn you prior and can be fixed in a good day's work; again pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

That’s what I was thinking watching his vids. He might not know whether he should or shouldn’t be sharing. And if he’s not, they might get his channel shut down.

Fuck? Toyota isn't Skunk Works? Pretty much everything after May 30 when recall was announced is open game.

Inside information prior to recall when these things were shelling out probably was a foul with Toyota.

Same, it’s awesome drive. Made in Japan at least and not the mouth breathers in Alabama. I Settled for the 4 banger hybrid Land Cruiser for 9/10 the price.

Sort of crazy they’re putting 4 bangers in any medium sized 4x4. I’m not knocking it. It’s crazy they’re putting 3.4L v6 in a half ton truck, but I traded in a perfectly good V8 tundra for one.:burp:
