Good evening everyone, trying to see if there is anyone else who might have encountered anything like this before.

I have a 2024 Tundra hybrid limited with 14747 miles as of today. I have encountered rust inside the cab on places like the seat rails on both front seats, break pedal and other metals underneath the steering column.

The truck has never been submerged or even had any water inside other than just rain drops from opening the door.
Let me know what you guys think.

    ***forgot to add***
Took it to the dealership about 2 months ago, initially I had only see the rail on the seats. They went ahead and order me parts to replace them, once the parts were in and I went to get them swapped, I noticed the other parts rusted and mentioned it to them. Then they took a bunch of pictures and sent them to Corporate Toyota, to which Corporate Toyota determined, it wasn’t their issue and it must of been caused by me.

    Parked outside? Near the ocean?

Parked outside yes, about 30 plus miles from the ocean. This is my second 3rd gen tundra, the other one was a 2023 non hybrid, had it for about a year and didn’t have this. Same environment

The brake pedal is crazy. Are you the original owner of this second tundra?

That seems abnormal. Sure there’s no leak in the truck leading to abnormal moisture in the truck?

That first pic looks like water was on the floor mat.?. I’ve seen reports of pano roof and A-pillar leaks.
I live near the ocean, had the truck about 5 months:

The distinct cutoff lines and isolated parts tells me it’s a factory QC issue. Paintshop done screwed up. And there’s something in the environment you’re in that’s accelerating the failure.

Are you a waterman? Do you drive with your Tangier Nikes* on?

Wow that’s wild. I’m just spitballing here but I wonder if this caused by a slight electrical charge if the truck isn’t grounded properly and acting like an anode. Or there’s some galvanic corrosion type thing where two metals are reacting like if an insulator on some wiring is missing.

I also think it’s a QC issue, the straight line give me that impression. I am not a waterman, I do construction management.

To me it looks like a chemical reaction to something that coated or touched those parts? Does not look like traditional rust? Good luck. D

Wow! Unbelievable ... let us know the dealerships excuse not to fix under warranty.

Back in my commuting days I got real good in relieving myself into a piddle pack at 80 mph. Just a thought?

The dealership essentially turned it over to Corporate Toyota and they said it wasn’t their fault and it must be something that I’ve been doing to make it like that.

There are parts of the break pedal that are high up that have never touched anything and are fully rusted. So idk what could have touched and caused the chemical reaction.

Yeah I’m currently fighting it and want to see how far I can fight it with them before I give up and trade it in.

Correct, I have no clue where to go to replace my problem free 2015 Camry. And I won't replace until an engine out repair surfaces.

Before you trade spray some of that locktite rust neutralizer on it.

True but then you get to pick your poison. Chevy electrical gremlins. Ford transmission giving out. The new Tundra issues. If they are all 5 year trucks, then pick which one you like the most. It’s disappointing and I do hope Toyota gets the Tundra back to what we have come to expect.

Did you check your carpets front and back after rain? There have been a few owners with leaks from either the shark fin antenna seal, the rear window frame, or from the windshield. All of these soaked the carpet yielding a musty order over time. Your seat rails look like they’ve been in a very high moisture/humidity environment.

A moisture meter would go a long ways to eliminating a leak or water issue allowing you to look more into a chemical reaction. That perfectly straight line really makes it look like some kind of reaction

That's just where the black paint stops. My truck is rust-free and has the same clean line.
