where in SW are you looking, because holy shit it feels too busy and crowded (and expensive) most of the time to me.
maybe somewhere along (or north of) SR4 between Longview and the Coast perhaps, but otherwise...

Pretty much from Cathlamet to Naselle and maybe up north by the Nemah rvr . I was looking at Trout Lake, white Salmon and Stevenson but man the prices are crazy! Missed the boat on that.

We have been visiting Port Townsend for decades. It has always been a pocket of granola but this year it feels different. The super-rich hippies have reached critical mass as have the entitled “crunchies”.

Think next year we need to camp elsewhere

Hey gang just wanted to post up some thoughts on quick and easy camping options along 140 between Lakeview area and Klamath Falls. We will be in 2 trucks with raft trailers and will be driving through towards Grants Pass and just need to stop for the night. Campgrounds are possibilities but not totally necessary either. We will likely have already eaten dinner so we just really need a place to crash. If anyone knows of any dispersed camping along this route I'd be forever grateful. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or opinions.

    Anyone have a square bar roof rack system they’d be interested in selling. Something like this;

@CaptRussia253 I have a question for you… I passed your area yesterday headed to Boise. What’s the big draw into the Tri-cities these days? The massive housing (and apartments) developments just off I-82 are nuts!

I've only lived here for about 6 months, but have been coming here for the last 6-7 years. It's definitely grown, especially over the last few years. But, don't let the housing fool you. They are building all new developments along the highway. Once you drive 10-15 minutes in any direction it's all open.

Taxes are much less, way less traffic, no rain (this was a big one as the rain made me depressed every season), it is always sunny, people are so nice here it's insane, three major rivers, and family. All those reasons why we decided to give Tri-cities a try. Being closer to Idaho and Montana is a plus. I want to start exploring further east.

Yeah, this area is pretty cool. Don’t think I could handle the summer heat unfortunately. We are in Pendleton right now and love the downtown area, but hot AF here in the summer.

Kinda bakes my noodle why with all this land here they are building homes right next to the highway. The housing density in the communities makes sense…cheaper homes overall…but the last thing I’d want to hear is a Jake brake at 2am

The heat isn't bad when you have all the water recreation to cool down in. Or head to the mountains where it's 20° cooler.

Summer heat is not an issue, at least not for us. It's a dry heat and wasn't an issue for us even when it hit 100* this summer. We drove back to the westside and in the 80s plus high humidity made it unpleasant.

We are driving to Pendleton on Sunday for a day trip. Can you recommend anywhere to eat or places to see?

This! We spent a lot of time this summer on the Columbia and Snake River. We plan on buying a boat for next summer.

Heck yeah. Check out Ares junction and walkers pit on the snake. Some back roads to get there, but nice places to hang out on a boat. Usually less people/boats around there compared to places closer to the Tri-Cities. We used to go out there all the time when I lived in Walla Walla county.

I think we will have to just manage with the heat. It is just a tough pill to swallow for someone that has lived their entire life on the “left” side.

There are multiple restaurants with 4.5+/5 reviews in Pendleton on the Googles. We had dinner at Hamley steakhouse and it was amazing. Wish we could have stayed longer but didn’t make the time on this trip. Didn’t get a chance to check out any sights, so don’t have any recommendations unfortunately.

Drove to Pendleton for the day. Stopped at OMG Burgers. It was so good. The crispy chicken sandwich was fire and the local beer on tap was delicious.

Wifes 4runner in its natural habit.

looking fairly mild for Stumptown area - mostly just wet. I'll be on the other coast, but Mrs. Rainman can hold down the fort pretty well.
