Is this tundra worth it?

It’s a 2014 limited. Looks like it’s lifted, don’t really care for the rims, and it’s a limited with 88k miles.

my tundra is 2012 crew cab rock warrior. Nothing special about it.

the only thing I don’t know it’s rwd only but I don’t know if I need 4wd or not that often. I live in MD(Maryland) and we don’t get heavy snow.

I don’t know if it will hinder me going from a 4wd to a rwd tundra. I think it looks nice to.

rarely do I ever use my 4x4 and it’s stuck in 2wd most of the time but the 4x4 has came in handy when I needed it to.

 

Why are you thinking of switching? Two years is not that big of a difference although a 2014 has some styling changes and features a 2012 does not. How many miles on your truck?

 

I see no reason for switching. Gen 2.5 has better layered interior (in my opinion), but interior alone would not move my will (or lack of) an inch to pay for it on top of Gen 2. Also 2WD is boring. Better have it and rarely use it than be in a need of 4x4 in a 2WD truck.

What is the point of trading into a 2014?

That's a lot of money to essentially downgrade. The dealer is hoping the cool stance from the cheap spacer lift makes up for the fact it's a 2wd with the worst resale value out there. Notice they don't show you the actual lift. Now, notice the height of the rear springs compared to the wheel. There's just a big ol block between the springs and the axle. Hard pass.

You have a great Tundra. The only downside to any Rock Warrior Tundra in my opinion is the small gas tank. But every 2014 (and 2015 I believe) has the smaller tank, too.

This is why 2wd trucks have such poor resale value comparatively. When your only point of drive and traction is under the axle with far less weight, it can turn into a problem real quick.

If I were you, I'd do a mild suspension lift (these are actually functional instead of blocks) and Katzkin leather or similar on your current truck. You'd keep the capability and resale value of the Rock Warrior and scratch whatever itch makes you want to trade for that 2wd bro stance abomination

 

Almost 30k for a 10 year old 2wd truck with a lift of unknown quality and heavy wheels/tires that don't serve a purpose except reduce MPG? Not on my dime.

 

Pass. I drive through Maryland on occasion. You *do* get a little snow, and your highway department (and fellow statesmen) are ill-equipped to handle it. Keep the 4WD, the Rock warrior is an awesome package.

Buy an aftermarket stereo with a back-up camera, and put some leather seats in your RW. Those are about the only "upgrades" that the limited has that your 2012 RW doesn't. And it certainly doesn't cost $30k to get them either.

 

I would agree with this statement here. I wanted a 4x4, and I was talked out of it by my mom's ex bf, since I lived in Cali and it never snows, blah blah blah... When I moved to Reno, NV and had to mount chains on the side of the road at 4am before I went into the Sierra I really wanted to punch that guy in the face.

 

Snow chains are good, after winters full of snow I bought chains for my 4x4, too

My truck is scratch-proof. I can't notice any new scratches.

 

I'll happily take your scratches for rusy and body damage, and bed waves to both sides. Chains took off most of the bedside supports so the wave at speed.

Okay. All have convinced me to keep my tundra. Although I do need to get it fixed. My new aftermarket oem bumper is coming soon!

Does anyone know how to fix the side of my passenger door or if it’s even impossible to fix it DIY.

Is it rust on the door or what? The easiest fix would be to replace the door

Bent bed can be PDRed out. The sheet metal Toyota uses is very thin, which makes DIY PDR easy. I fixed many dents on my truck.

 

@helpmeout does your rear passenger window and door function properly?? if so, take it to a good body shop, they can tighten that up for you.
As for the gunnel dent, I wouldn't worry about that, maybe have them sand and paint over the bare metal/primer on the right side of the bed if you're worried about it.

Was it involved in an accident? mismatched tires (both in type and size) on the passenger side are a little worrisome

 

It’s like a dent if you can look at the 2nd picture right near my glass.

yes, my door does function correctly. No creeks or anything. It just looks weird like that and I was wonder if there’s any diy way to put like bondo or a body filler to make it uniform to the original shape because it does look weird if you see in person. I can take a closer picture if you want.

I just don’t want a shop to rip me off. I had that problem that’s why I had to sell my tundra and rebuy it. I lost 8.7k I think on my transmission at AMMCO(scamming shop)and I had to waste like 4k cash to put down payment and finance it when I sold it to Toyota. I should have went to Toyota and got my transmission replaced there first before even trying another shop.

I’ll get 4 matching tires in a month or 2.

I have 2 different brands on. 2 in front are Armstrong and 2 in back are coopers

my truck is Paid in full though.

 

No add'l pic is necessary. I'm sure there are 1000's of DIY bodywork bondo videos on YouTube, I would search there. If it's just looks you're after, unless you're an experienced body guy, take it to a professional. You're probably going to spend the same in materials/tools to do it 50-60% as good as they can for the same price they'd charge you. I get the hesitation after getting your turds pushed in by AAMCO. Avoid national/regional chains. Find a shop where the guy has his name on the front door/sign. "family business". They're slowly going the way of the buffalo but they're still out there. I bet for $500 they could have that looking pretty sharp for you. And for about $1000, they'd have it looking like a new door (which is probably what a new one costs). More than likely, your dealer uses a local guy for their body work, rather than it being repaired on the Toyota premises. Call them and ask if they send it out or not.

The carpet has been ate up by Clorox with bleach because I was helping someone move and the bleach spilled before I noticed it so it ate up a section of my carpet.

 

What do you use for PDR? Kid’s baseball teammate smacked my door taking his baseball backpack off to get into his car parked next to us. No paint damage, but there is a very small dent I’d like to make go away.

 

mine has 65k miles (110,000 km), is 4x4, is a platinum, is a year newer and would probably fetch the same money if not less.

 

Show pics? For the smallest pointy dents you may need to disassemble the door and push it out from inside with dent rod, like these ones:

Around these parts a 2wd trucks worth is measured by the amount of fuel in the tank. I wouldn't bother man, its not an upgrade in any way, shape, or form.
