So question for anyone that knows, do different model trims have different levels of noise pumped into the cabin and can you control it?

Long story short, me and my father both have 2024 limited’s. Very similar builds, difference is mine has the off-road package and a panoramic roof. Otherwise we have the same equipment and bed size. He bought his late 2023 and I got mine recently. Mine has the off-road package and he has a decked system full of gear. so I’ve noticed they drive slightly different (suspension and his bed weight), however, weirdly we have both noticed the engine noise is much louder in his cabin (when driving the trailer wasn’t attached). I believe I read that toyota has the audio system pumping in some engine noise. Both of us have JBL, which I heard is apart of the process.

Is there a way to control the audio level of the engine noise coming in? If so he wants me to lower his engine noise so it quieter like mine.

Only the upgraded JBL stereo pumps the engine noise. Did you or dealer turn yours off?
Carista or the like to turn off.

I haven’t seen an option to adjust the volume, it is either on or it is off.
If yours is actually on and not as loud as his, it may be possible your ANC is on and his is off (active noise cancelling) and yours is being partially cancelled out…long shot. I turned my ANC on and off, playing with it, and the radio sounds better without. With it on, the lows are muffled (cancelling feature working on what it thinks is road noise, etc).

We both have JBL, but I hadn’t thought about the ANC. I’ll check that today if I run over there. If you can’t adjust the volume I wonder if mine is off for some reason. Both were bought new, but mine is much quieter, which he wants in his truck now. The only other difference is the tires, but that wouldn’t affect engine noise. This has be wondering if they change the noise for the pro trims now. I have noticed a few differences like in the eco reset and both being on normal mode the throttle response is different too. Personally I prefer the quiet cab. It’s one of the reasons I went tundra over the gmc. Just odd for two trucks the same year and same trim.

I used Carista to turn mine off, takes 5 min. & makes a huge difference. I hated that fake noise.

I have one from my Tacoma I just need to resubscribe for it. I don’t really care about digital noise. My Subaru had different noise channeling pipes you could instal between the cabin and the engine bay to alter the noise. Doesn’t matter if it’s physical or digital really. However my biggest selling point on this truck was how quiet the ride was . It was just a very relaxing ride compared to other trucks I’ve had or be in. So with this I wouldn’t mind turning it off.

First thing I did was get Carista to turn off the fake engine noise. Only took one highway trip to realize I hated the fake noise.

I had the dealer turn mine off today while they were programming my second key fob. I definitely think the fake noise is off now, but I am a little surprised at the level of "real" engine noise I hear.

How much did the dealer charge to remove the fake engine noise?

I know this was asked two months ago, but since no one replied directly yet....

    Basically, much quieter.
The V6 engine noise/sound in the cabin IS noticeable, especially if you're hard on the throttle, but not intrusive under normal circumstances.
It sounds real, that is to say, not like fake V8 rumble.
Does it sound great? No. A turbo'ed V6 will never sound great. It's the nature of the beast.
Does it sound terrible? Absolutely not IMO.

There are people that like the fake engine noise.
I am not one of them.
Auto start-stop disable and getting rid of that noise were the first changes I made.

I turned mine off and seatbelt chime never looked back. With TRD drop in filters if I turn the radio down I can hear a little turbo whistle under throttle at low speeds that's it. Got a full Stillen exhaust waiting in the garage but kind of like the stealth mode.

It sounds real because it is real. I don't think they call it a microphone but there's a thingy on the motor that picks up the sounds.

When you say you disabled auto start-stop, was did you use one of those bypass devices from Amazon? TIA.

Incorrect - there is no such microphone in the engine bay. There are microphones in the rood headliner for ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) but they have nothing to do with the engine noise.

    OUTLINE
    (a) The active noise control system provides an Engine Sound Enhancement (ESE) function to generate engine noise.
    (b) The stereo component equalizer assembly controls the active noise control system and generates the sound of ESE function. The stereo component equalizer assembly outputs the generated sound to the audio system speakers.
    HINT:
As the active noise control system is not directly linked to the audio system, sound will still be output even when the audio system is set to off or mute.
    MAIN FEATURES
    (a) The ESE function generates engine order component sound*1 based on the accelerator pedal depression amount, vehicle speed and cabin conditions, and outputs the sound via the audio system speakers to enhance the engine sounds*2.
    HINT:
*1: Engine order component sound is the primary composition of frequencies of real engine sound and consists of the engine speed as the fundamental frequency, and multiple orders of harmonics. For example, if the engine speed creates a fundamental frequency of 100Hz, then the actual engine sound that is heard will consist of 100 Hz + 2 x 100 Hz + 3 x 100 Hz + ... + n x 100 Hz. These harmonics are called the 1st order, 2nd order, 3rd order... nth order harmonics.
*2: The ESE function calculates the engine order component sound of nth order, and enhances those harmonics with a synthesized sound.

    @DRP

I meant to say that the V6 on it's own, without any added sound, sounded real.
Yes, you're right, it's augmented/amplified sound from the engine itself. I found it to be too loud. I might have lived with it if we had the option to dial the volume down, but since we did not, I opted to turn it off completely via Carista. No regrets.

    Yes, AMZ start-stop eliminator widget.
Have had it installed for 10K miles; works perfect. No button pushing at startup to disable, but you do have the indicator light on the dash to look at.
I have that one and the backup cone (auto braking) lit up at all times. Easy enough to ignore.

*Added to note the correction above about the source of the engine sound.*

This is what I was referring to.. Real or fake might not be the right words to use to describe the noise that's pumped in. Either way, I turned mine off.

    Intake Sound Generator (ISG):
This component creates a specific intake sound by manipulating air flow within the intake manifold, contributing to the overall engine sound character
