Yep, but what they don't tell you is that your remote start from your Key Fob will also NOT work.

I wonder if '21 vehicles are remote starting without cell network?
Losing remote start is not cool.

Yea, I verified that remote start no longer works with key fob. I'm not sure what that has to do with connected services but a dick move on Toyota's part. They also reset my head unit loosing my settings for audio, screen, and phone. I noticed that my profile is now gone (which is a good thing).

Yep. Pretty low class IMHO. Especially since i actually OWN the truck and not Toyota.

When you purchase the truck and setup the app, was there any statement about the FOB needing to be connected to your phone? It sounds like they swapped RF for MQTT. I'm guessing you could remote start the truck from your phone, too, from anywhere? Pretty slick implementation while adding encryption/security to avoid MiM thefts.

I would be willing to bet that it’s more probable someone will steal your truck and you will want to be able to remotely disable it than it is the powers that be will disable it on you.

I have not tried it, but apparently there is a DCM (Data Communication Module) fuse in the fuse box under the drivers side dash that pulling will disable: telematics and vehicle tracking, remote start, Bluetooth phone connectivity, vehicle updates, and the microphone.

This crap will only continue to get worse as consumers continue down the tech/connectivity/seamless integration rabbit holes... :(

Would CarPlay/AA still work even if BT is not?

Maybe? One would think the wired connection would still work but I don't know for sure. You could always pull the fuse and let us know the results

I can try only after the weather warms up a bit since my Tundra is TITS (up) right now. :D
