I get that, generally. People can annoy me too when they’ve had too much to drink.

It's a sliding scale with a few branches/options that can happen, but generally it just makes people not behave like themselves.

I totally agree with that. Personally, I have rules on metabolizing and I follow them. Whether people like me more or less hasn’t been something I’ve observed.

All depends on your circle. I don't expect my friends not to drink. I just ask them to let me know so I don't show up.

Good to have that one friend... I rarely get that drunk. On a full stomach and at a sane pace I can get a pint of 80 proof down without getting drunk-drunk; but around folks that aren't really close, especially when I'm not in my own space, I won't drink that much in a sitting.

I'll get a smidge (just a smidge) boisterous after a couple of drinks, but I'm a calm, happy, contented buzz, and it's hard to get me to dislike someone, all the way up to an including that pint of 80 proof. Much nicer than the assholery a stranger might get meeting me sober. And yes, I've requested feedback on multiple occasions to ensure I'm not just fooling myself.

Digging into the 2nd pint will get me slurring a bit and forgetting my manners. I save that for when my closest friends are doing the same thing. It's not for public viewing. Even then I'll still be chilled out. No karate, singing, or blathering on about how the world works - but to your point, not really myself.

Strong opinions on drinking are perfectly fine with me. Everyone has things that they feel strongly about. :)

I think there's a change, but I would say it's the opposite. Booze puts the mask on people, because they do stuff they'd never do sober. Who they really are is the sober person, with inhibitions and judgment tempering their impulses. Booze removes the judgement and inhibitions so impulses turn into actions and they don't have any control at that point. 100% their fault and their responsibility because they chose to start drinking, but I don't think they person they are when boozed up is something their hiding. They don't usually know it exists.

    Maybe

if you remove the inhibitions, then you become the person who you be

folks are usually cognizant enough to hide all that

    the booze let’s it out

said another way…if I squeeze you, what comes out is what was inside you

I have to side with @GODZILLA on this. Your filters are definitely part of your personality. There's a reason people call it liquid stupid - - it presumes a level of competence at being a person, and that competence is lowered when you drink. Too much. Which for some, might be one.

I get that, but if you wouldn't act on it you can't really be judged on it, can you? Prime example, I have a temper but I control it very well. It was beat into me as a kid that I had to. My older brother in particular can boil my blood like no other. If I were to get drunk and he was around and I stabbed him with my pocket knife, well that's not me. I would never stab him. Booze me up and I don't have full control, and it could happen. The real me wouldn't do it.

Watching people does make me feel like I have my shit together. Whether that's true or not is irrelevant because some of the idiocy I see makes me think they think they have their shit together.

We also go to Costco for a lot of snack items for kids, and basics for the house, laundry detergent, soaps, tp, paper towels, etc...

At any rate the outfits people choose to wear in public these days is what entertains me the most. It truly shows people just don't give a f about their presentation of themselves anymore. Especially in airports...

I think everyone is confusing drinking some social beers with getting drunk. They aren't the same. Not everyone goes from 0 to 12 in 60 minutes.

Nope. I don't like being around the social beers either. It still changes how people behave. You don't have to be drunk to lose volume control, or get too touchy feely, or pushy with ideas, or to get repetitive, etc. I've seen that happen in 2 beers on a guy 6'2" and 280 lbs.

    Not offended.

And on the topic of drinking. If you're an idiot when you drink it's likely because you're an idiot sober. IMHO Drinking does not make one do stupid things on its own.

Sounds like my wife. Gets loud, and annoying (to me) and when I tell her to cool it, I get yelled at lol. Fortunately, she doesn’t drink much.
