Stillen Intake folks...where you at? TP403210 TP403211

I think its time that the Forum bosses remove them from the supported vendor list

 

I don't think they officially made it to the list. Brianna said that they got approved but not sure if they were actually added. I don't see them listed currently but you're right, even if they did become an official vendor, I don't think after this they should remain one.

 

The timing on this really sucks for Stillen, they have been around forever and perhaps an overly enthusiastic person like Brianna got a little too far into what it turns out to be beta testing as ready to go retail sales. I will be returning mine unopened simply because it can't help much and neither can AFE or other aftermarket intakes as they don't throw a code on their own due to airflow outside of normal ECU programming. The TRD intakes will as they actually provide more flow. I haven't seen anything saying exhaust mods will throw a code either, regardless of brand. That tells me they don't really help power much either, just make more noise. The reality is if you can do the Toyota tune and air boxes for under a $1000 all in that's best bang for warranty buck. People are dumping Tru-Control for as low as $250 on here as a knee jerk reaction, really kind of silly as they work great and don't throw codes, any connectors that don't fit properly are going to throw a code and alert the dealer that some monkey business is afoot. I have the Stillen exhaust ready to go but realize now how nice it is to have a quiet truck that can fly on demand.

 

The reason that the aftermarket intakes don't actually increase airflow is that they are restricted by the diameter of the piping having to be the same as the stock piping, otherwise an error code is thrown. The TRD Performance Air Intake actually increase the piping size. While the OD of the S&B might be larger, the ID is the exact same as stock.

In order to run the TRD Performance Air Intake, you need to have a 2024. They will throw a code on any Tundra, 2022-2025, without the calibration being flashed. Currently, the calibration is only available for the 2024s.

 

@machd08 was able to get the TRD Performance Air Intake and Calibration installed, hence the "dumping" of the Stillen Tru-Control @ $250.

 

Honestly, if you have an explanation, Customer Service will honor what ever issue you’re experiencing as long as it was shipped and/or sold by Amazon.

 

Man, this thread has gone to really hate on Stillen.

Honestly, the 3rd gen Tundra is only on its 3rd iteration of its lifespan - of which includes a 100,000 engine replacement, blown up engines (or seized engines) due to debris inside engines, and crappy QC which results in lots of consumers being frustrated with the result of the 3rd gen Tundra.

Simply put, this thread should have just lead to where you returned the item and got your money back. Wait until the item is fully R&D and purchase it. If it’s beta testing, then obviously this isn’t going to be the perfect fitment nor will it be a perfected product that’s gone through multiple prototypes before it’s sent out to retail.

Yes, Stillen made the mistake of releasing a product in which they failed to ensure the quality was top notched, but also, so many people in this thread have mentioned “Returns, Dispute with your CC company, get your money back”.

Return the item, get your money back.

 

Stillen has been given chances to make things right and have yet to make good on them.

And yet, Stillen still has the item(s) listed for sale on their website.

And Brianna and others at Stillen have given timeframes that were not met and have basically ceased communication.

 

2nd gen guys are like crossfitters, road bicyclists, people on a new diet, etc., they just have to tell you. No matter what, regardless of the situation, they mention how they think their trucks are better than the 3rd gens. Sometimes they say it directly, sometimes it's ambiguous slights. But holy shit they will make sure you know.

Anyway, back to how Stillen ghosted us.

I called and was told new tooling had to be made for the couplers and lid and that it was ready for production. When I again asked for a rough ETA, was told they couldn't provide one. That's what did it for me. I've simply been asking for ETAs so I can make a decision if I want to wait or not. We've all been strung along with no clear Timeline, so I took the rma instead, I'm fing done

Not knee jerk reaction, I got the TRD Performance CAÍ and programming, it was more about factory warranty and not having to remove theStillen Tru Control ever time I took my truck to the dealer.

Not atm. I liked the scoops on Stillens kit and that is the only reason I jumped on it. I've been monitoring intake temps via JB4 and they're pretty spot on to ambient displayed on my dash. Not looking to go open filter like HPS...they look and sound awesome though. I had AFE and didnt like the driving characteristics of it

 

And btw, paypal f'd me over. Transaction details said I had until 12/24 to file a claim. I go to file one today and it gets closed ASAP. They told me I had to file a claim within 30 days of receiving the item. Well, I gave Stillen the benefit of the doubt and didnt file. Lesson learned here: file a claim within 30 days regardless what the seller is promising.

What ever it may be they will have to sell,trade,burn or drive it into the ground because the beloved 2nd gen/2.5 gen will shit the bed and will die eventually,so WTF!!!

“we will begin production and a new mold for the airbox, and the couplers of the Toyota Tundra. Unfortunately, I do not have an exact date, but I ask that you please bear with me a few weeks until this resolution is done, and we will rectify your matter.”

 

Did you link your bank account or a CC? If its a CC you can still go through them and request a chargeback.

 

This might actually be the case.

Do you know your ECU ID or Calibration ID?

CARISTA will give this to you if you run a Detailed ECU Info scan.

 

Stillen is accepting the return...were good

 

at least you got "a few weeks" I wasnt given anything.
