Sorry to hear that, those things suck and when you have a very small window to do something, but go into surgery in peace and once you are cleared for PT, go for it. Grind through it because it will help A LOT.

Yes, my wife and teenage daughter are very helpful in times like this. Also, my adult son lives pretty close as well as my parents.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I guess it's just part of life. Things happen. Surgeon says its a very routine repair.
I had a pretty bad dirtbike accident a few years ago and PT is the only reason I can be as active as I am today. I didn't walk for 5 months and once I was weight bearing I hit the PT hard. And within a couple months I was back playing soccer.

Soungs like you're set up for a healthy recovery. As much as it sucks to be injured and down for a bit, you'll bounce back pretty quick with that kind of mentality. Long live the old man who trusts in others and also cares for himself.

I had this done back in 2014. I will say that because of how it tore, they had to reroute my radial nerve, and mother of *GOD* this was not what I'd call a fun recovery. Took me every bit of 3 months of rest, PT, ice, so on and so forth to get full mobility back, and another 6 months to get full strength back.

This is one of those things you do not want to rush. I mean yes, rush the surgery, as once it's torn, if one waits longer than 3-4 weeks to reattach, it usually requires use of a cadaver tendon and that takes longer still to heal.

But beyond that, while your tendon can/will reattach to the bone within a month or two...it takes something like fully 6-9 months to *completely* reattach at 100% strength.

All of this being said....100% recovery. :) You'll be fine.

Also...something to be aware of. Several months after the surgery you'll be doing stuff and then suddenly *pop* your arm will feel like it tore again and if you're like me you'll likely sh*t your pants and yell "Not again!!" In actuality, assuming you're not doing dumb stuff, it just means your arm healed fine, and using it like normal will break up and detach some scar tissue. :)

Surgery on Thursday went very well. I recovered all weekend at home and am back to work today. No pain as of now and off all pain killers. It's itchy under my splint and I can feel my stitches getting caught inside there.

Glad to hear it went well. Just have some patience on when the wound heal and stitches come out.
    Did the doctor mandate PT?

I find out all the details at my next appointment on the 16th when I get the stitches out and they move me to a brace.

Good. Now, rest. Or, as much as you can since you are back to work.
Don't work that hurt too hard now until you are stitch free, it takes time to heal.
    You will be alright.
