On the shitbox Camry I had oil get in the plug for the speed sensor and it would work intermittently, I sprayed contact cleaner in/on it and it's worked ever since. Maybe just try contact cleaner on the speed sensor prongs and the plug.

Certainly we have a thread with all our fluid recommendations and capacities, but I can't find it to save my life.

Hey fellow 1st gen'ers, just came back to report we survived Helene. Might seem like old news now but I'm about 20 minutes south of Asheville, NC. Just recently got power and internet (intermittent) restored. Still a lot of turmoil and trauma around here but now I'm looking for bigger chainsaws and generators. My Tundra withstood everything except the fuel shortages. OEM LBJs going on later this week.

Glad you're good to go. One of my buddies I swap vintage stuff with wasn't so fortunate. Lived a few blocks from the FB river. House is toast, gonna be a total loss. Thankfully he has USAA, they were on top of it, and he's taken care of. Got his initial money instantly from FEMA, and more is due to roll in with other stuff. <edited out rant about social media BS>

We have friends driving up from Sarasota later today to stay with us depending what NOAA's 7pm trajectory update shows for Milton out in the Gulf. They just got their parents condo on Long Boat Key where they've been staying during remodel up to a point where it's habitable again from Helene, only to have Milton ramp up today to a Cat5, and it's looking like a direct hit on Sarasota. That'll probably not only demolish the parents' LBK condo, but also their house in Sarasota a couple blocks from 41 & Bee Rd. that's currently being rebuilt and will probably be a total loss. It's in the middle of a massive remodel right now, and probably can't take even cat3 level winds. Seeing what happened to St Armand's circle which is dead between both places I just mentioned is nuts.

EDIT: I think this may finally be the push that was needed to get our last remaining friends up out of FL. My parents finally bounced a few years ago to southern AL.

Nah, it sounds more complicated than it is. Just take your time, and follow a couple easy steps: Sand. Wash. Paint prep. Etch prime. Scuff. Wash. Paint prep. Spray color. Spray clear.

It's the Small details between that are important. Namely READ THE FUCKING LABEL. The rest is just time.

Great excuse to spend $$$$…i mean invest. Not cheap, but you will be king of the mountain if you have a big saw.
Stihl MS261 with 16” bar for the small stuff, MS400 with 20” for the medium stuff, MS661 with a 28~32” for the bigger stuff.

Agreed here. Taking your time to do it right and not rushing through it will make it look much better. Nothing but time to do it right.

I often joke about not understanding something at times and having a “smooth” brain (especially before my morning coffee), but I just found out today there really is such a condition. It’s called Lissencephaly. Go figure.

My mom, brother and extended family are about to get smacked by a 2nd hurricane in two weeks. Milton is a beast. They all live in Parrish, FL. Manatee county. This storm went from a Cat 1 to a cat 5 in a single day. And my MIL is in New Port Richey. I tried to get them to leave but they want to ride it out.

They are saying this could be the worst one to hit Tampa in over 100 years.

My aunt is in NPR with her husband and have no choice to ride it out, he’s bedridden.

my parents are so grateful they left Bradenton. Our friends from Sarasota who were staying at parents condo on LBK arrived about 2-3 hours ago after 12 hours getting.

I suspect that a one way flight INTO Florida is dirt cheap right now?

And for the loved ones who can’t get out of bed, perhaps an inflatable air mattress would be the ultimate solution?…you know, just in case the water gets too deep.

Joking aside, prayers sent to both of your families to safely make it through the storm and aftermath.

My mom lived in converse tx for a few years and deer crossing was a big problem. I remember she purchased some silly ass deer whistle thingy that mounts to the bumper and allegedly deters the deers. Can't say it works but she never had deer for dinner

I put a set of those on up here in the Mitten many many years ago, results inconclusive:notsure:, but the whistle was annoying while cruising with the windows down.

Damn dude, that sucks. Did you have a 2nd mr2 for a parts car? Insurance claim?

This is one of my biggest fears driving a car that insurance thinks is less than what it's worth. The amount of money, blood, sweat, and beers you put into that, just for some bean counter to come and total it. Sure it can be fixed, but now it's a rebuilt title. Same thing would happen to the Vic, and most of our trucks. It's a damn shame.

Damn straight. Went through that. I was able to keep the Green (color for regular title in MI) title though. I think their initial quote was like 2200:mad:, I battled for 2 weeks and only got 3100. Ins. Companies are 1 click away from being mafia style extortion and racketeering enterprises. Every time I said "ok find me another truck equal for 2200 and restore my loss" I got word salad, smoke screen, and complete avoidance of my request.:bananadead:

I've accepted that my truck is basically worthless by insurance standards.
Home insurance is even worse, I really feel bad for the people in Georgia and the Carolinas right now because they are going get a little fema pocket change and the insurance is gonna say "sorry but you don't have flood insurance"
