Spoke to Stoptech, right rotor has been BO for 5 months, they have no knowledge of when it will be available. Cancelled & ordered another left, pads & I’m getting 2 free bolts! woot!


Also, got this history lesson from a vendor:

StopTech manufactured the TRD big brake kit for Toyota, but Toyota owned the tooling for all TRD-specific parts. Thus, the 1-piece 406mm rotors were never made available to StopTech dealers. They must be obtained from a TRD dealer. It's also complicated by the fact that StopTech went out of business at the end of December 2023, so none of these parts will be manufactured going forward. You'll need to find rotors on the shelf at a TRD warehouse or on the 2nd hand market.

The caliper-to-truck mounting bolts are probably the same factory Toyota bolts that were used to attach the OEM Toyota calipers to the Tundra. Almost all StopTech big brake kits reuse the factory bolts to mount the StopTech caliper adapter brackets to the vehicle. Or in the case of the TRD kit, the adapter bracket is actually part of the StopTech/TRD ST-66 caliper casting.

 

Calipers will be delivered Thursday assuming UPS doesn't mess up.

Second rotor, pads & second caliper bolts arrived.

 

It appears UPS messed up, calipers haven't moved in 41 hours.

 

Looks like I'm fucked supposed to deliver today, hasn't moved in over 60 hours in Illinois....

 

That sucks, shit happens, hopefully they can still get it to you.

 

If it's lost I am out 850 actual cash & 2k to replace (which would mean I am selling all the crap I have & moving on)

Shipper did not insure it so I'll be lucky to get 100 bucks some day from UPS I assume.

After much debating, transferring and arguing, I got the number to the last center there was a physical scan, for my trouble, I was told it IS in a trailer, would have left today BUT the investigation forces it be found, removed & verified, therefore it will move Monday at best.

Currently on hold with a supervisor trying to get it expedited so at least it leaves today.

Sucks man. Hodgkins is a huge facility. Massive amount of packages move through there a day. And I hate to say this about a local to me business, but I would hope they packaged them properly as I would think this was the issue where the box got destroyed from the weight and got "lost" in there.

 

He said he packaged it very well and the box was very big.

Also, the last physical scan was Jefferson St Chicago.

 

DD catback, bought in '22 had a failure at a few joints, Keith replaced it no trouble, he's a stand up guy!

While it was going in, I finally had the driver side bung welded in.

 

Calipers seem to be lost, UPS is "getting back to me" with settlement info. Second full kit should be out for delivery after giving me a scare being where the calipers disappeared for a while.

 

Kit came. Wish it wasn't 110 degrees.

 

Both AFR gauges stopped working but I saw the most boost I have seen when it was hot (111)

 

There's about a MM less material on the right rotor.

 

ECF-1 was the issue, got another from Amazon, Innovate wanted me to send them the gauge & all wiring because I didn't buy it direct.

New Provisions wasn't taking calls, made me email. They responded this morning, contact Innovate.

No clue wtf is wrong with the PSB-1, both are wired similarly, and are getting the full 13.7-14.1 volts the truck is offering.

 

Soooooo one of the bleeders is decapitated, seller is being a dick.

Whatever your expectations were for a used part to be in were may be too high or maybe you should’ve just bought a new kit maybe. Because for one, you’re saying, there’s rust when it’s an aluminum caliper. Are you aware that aluminum does not rust. I honestly don’t know if you know that or not but aluminum does not rust. Secondly, I asked you in my last message if you had had it installed and if you could maybe show me where it’s not functioning the way it was designed or perhaps share any documentation to backup the claim that these parts are not useable, however you did not because you did not install them so therefore you actually don’t know if they function or not. I personally do know that they function because I took them off of my own personal truck. So your claim that they do not function is actually false because you’re making a statement that you cannot prove. A torn dust cover does not prevent the caliper piston from doing its job. I’ve also reviewed the description and you’ve used these words multiple times, but they’re not actually in the description, “fully functional”. Even though they are fully functional, I didn’t actually use those words but nonetheless, they are functional and you would know that if you installed the parts, but you did not. You are maybe upset with how they look but their outward appearance does not take away from their performance. Secondly, whatever claim you’re making that a bleeder valve is broken, my listing picture show that the bleeder valve was there, but your picture show that the bleeder valve is not there. I have a picture of the bleeder valve there and you have a picture of something that doesn’t even look like a bleeder valve or a broken bleeder valve. I think maybe you’re a little upset over something that happened before you even purchased my auction with a completely different set of calipers and you’ve got a little buyers remorse with the used parts you bought from me that you thought maybe they were new parts even though the parts were clearly described as “used”. What I do know is those parts are functional because they came off my own personal truck. Torn caliper, piston seals do not prevent the caliper from working. I’ve included 2 pictures of both sides of both calipers (1 picture was used for the listing of these parts) and you can clearly see that all (4) of the bleeder valves are intact. 2 bleeder valves on each caliper. While these parts were in use on my personal truck and while they were in my possession during the time they were listed for sale and up until they were shipped to you, the bleeder valves were there. There was nothing misrepresented in this listing. There was nothing malicious in the listing. I listed used 2 rotors, 2 used calipers and new set of brake pads. Perhaps I could’ve added into the description that they came off my own personal truck but using the word “used” and supplying many pictures of the items for sale and that they’re noticeably used and not new parts seemed redundant enough to clearly state that these parts had been previously used. If you have any further questions I’d be happy to help clear up this misunderstanding.

Now that you have some extra calipers, I may need to get some specs off it from you. While back I was researching the BBK options for the GX470/4Runner. And I'm wondering if that TRD caliper would fit...

 

At this point, especially seeing as there are extremely limited replacement parts sources (boots for both calipers are 180 + tax & shipping) no right rotor etc. I suggest anything else.

eBay douche offered 500 back which is acceptable, the issue is eBay wants to put it back on my CC. The shop in Chicago wants Zelle so I prefer they paypal it so I can move it into my bank & send it. Another series of arguments wheeeee

 

Fucking HOA cited me for parking in the yard, it's a tire width in rocks. Every time I forget I despise HOAs they remind me.

 

That’s rough, mine doesn’t care at the moment, but with home values where they are at now, the people coming in seem to be moving it this way. Just need to get the kids through school and I’m out of HOAs for good. Arizona didn’t use to be this way.

 

Those HOA's can be a pain but at least your neighbor doesn't have a junkyard or invite their family to "camp" for the summer. I like my solitude but had to call the county to get it remedied.

 

I'm ready to go today, kids have been out of the house for over a decade.
