We have the new Nests - replaced the old nests with them. Those covers look great, btw.

How you like the new ones? I've thought about upgrading my nests to the new ones, but not sure the upgrades are worth $500 (2 themostats)

Finished up installing the HRV. Flex duct is a pain in the ass.

It's ugly but functional, should help out with our air quality especially in the winter.

I like them a lot - they integrated well with my Amazon system and they may be using a little less energy somehow. I like how they work with the extra room sensors so you can program them to do an average temp or just base the temperature off of one room based on the time of day. They look better although the wall plate they came with is ugly as hell. I ended up buying a custom one from Etsy for our dining room. I'll be wainscotting the upstairs landing soon and when I do that, I'll just put it flush with the wall so I don't need to use a backing plate.

    Old one:
    image.jpg

New plate - it's almost a circle and doesn't fully cover the area of the old plate which is yet another dipshit Google move. At the very least, it should cover the same amount of area or more.

    image.jpg

Solution - got with a dude on Etsy and had him make me a custom one out of wood.

About half way done building a big 7ft diameter round table. Using some interesting herringbone butcher block I came across and then joined them together!

Yeah outside of new construction you don't see too many. Our house is old and we've got a boiler for heat so we don't get a ton of air circulation.

I switched from Google to Nest. The subscription is cheaper, the app is better and their cameras are rated for higher heat. One of my wireless Google Cameras got fried last year.

No picture but I installed a 4x8 Rubbermaid shed that has been sitting on the side of our house in its box for 2 years. My wife has been hounding me lately on getting things done and it’s working. :annoyed:

Sheesh.. tell her to get off your back, those pvc panels have to acclimate to the weather for a few years before they can be installed.

Time to relax and see what happens....

Drove to Pinellas County to help some family, then Polk County to pick up the inlaw. Back in Dixie County to ride out the storm. Moved the camper and weighed her down again (filled all tanks with water) then prepped the inside for us to stay in it. Set up my generator hut, generator and propane lines... tested them and it all works as expected. Picked up around the yard and ran debris to the dump.

So now, we wait and pray for South Florida.

I have the nest. It’s fine. App is okay. I can turn the fan on and off. Can’t select the specific speed, have to open the panel and pick the speed on the control board.

Packed up my generator and started unprepping from the storm. Met up with a friend and gave him my saw, gas and misc items as he headed back into the thick of it. It has been very strange sitting these two storms out, but little man is now my main priority.

Long day, longer one planned tomorrow but zero complaints as my friends and family have it much worse.

I put up some shelves in my garage…. And some tracks to hold cleaning and yard tools. My 2 boys are getting better about letting me do things so I’m finally getting around to things that have been sitting since moving into my current home almost 2 years ago. Got some pics this time. Ignore the mess!IMG_4780.jpg IMG_4781.jpg

Your blower speed is pre programed,it's a "VFD" direct drive which ramps up and down just like your accelerator in your vehicle.
It has percentage values of pre determined % points that has been programed into the main PCB, some newer models you can change the parameters percentages values.
But not to get to deep into it, you can't just increase or decrease the speed at will.

For my table project, got the base built. Then sanded everything down and stained “espresso”. Tomorrow is polyurethane day and will be good to go! Moving it will be interesting, I made the top so it’s removable but is around 200lbs, the base about 80lbs.

Glad y’all dodged both of those. Glad your family and friends are alive and okay. Sit this one out and enjoy the lack of post-storm work and spend time with the family. There will be more opportunities… I don’t miss hurricane season whatsoever. Forest fires are scary but not quite like hurricanes.
