still running with toyota oem paint protection film from the factory on our 2014 4runner limited. has not turned yellow or peeled in 10 yrs roughly. cost was just under $600 or was it $495, dont know dont care at this point.

paid for the tundra pp package, was about the same price for the front protection and mirrors. most likely will not keep this blueprint plat once they come out with a better blue color

Most raptor guys seem to be going with stealth PPF and therefore doing the entire truck. Some quotes higher than $10,000. But what you did makes sense

I have Xpel brand, half hood, half fenders, door handle area. I’m happy I did get it, I drive a lot and on the highway. I would say yes to PPF and while you are at it I’d recommend paint correction/ceramic coating, keeps the vehicle looking cleaner and it’s easier to wash.

If you install PPF, be ready to handwash your truck because you can’t take it to car wash.

    Why is that?
I have had mine on 14 months now with with weekly auto washing and haven't had any issues.
    Is there something I'm missing?

The high pressure wash (touchless) may cause lifting on edges that can’t be wrapped/folded.

I'm been removing it off cars for the better part of 15 years in a hot climate state, so I can't speak of the ppf brand/quality or the expertise of the installers. All have been terrible to remove. That being said my tundra came with ppf and I'll be removing no later than spring. Should come off easy being less than 6 months old
If you have a quality ppf, your car is parked in the garage and your not in a hot climate it could be worth it

I had Xpel installed on my '20 Pro when new and it is holding up very nicely and I have no rock chips or nicks on the front. Really does a great job on door edges and the high contact areas behind the door handles. My area of Oregon uses crushed lava rock instead of chemical de-icer in snow months, so we encounter lots of grit/sand. The Expel is a winner in my mind. I went with the kit that covers front section of the hood, bumpers, grille surround, headlights, mirror caps and the door edges and behind the door handles. I checked my receipt and I paid $750 for a shop to do this for me. Is it worth it? In my mind yes, and I would definitely do it again. Thus far, it still looks like the day it was installed. Hopefully, it will give me several more years of
    protection.

I am in Canada and the winter can get really bad. They used salt here. Having said that I am wondering if majority people will bargain Tundra truck down $1-$2k if it has few rock chips. Also, this will not be daily commute truck for me. More for weekends and long trips vacation truck for me. So I don’t know if PPF worth it. Still try to decide. I do want to drive it as long as the truck run.

Here in N.E. we get the salt and sand mixture and getting behind those trucks sucks and can pepper the shit out a front end.I bought this truck with 0 miles and for a depreciating purchase I want to do all that I can the protect it so I had Xpel installed over the entire front end and so far it's doing it's job, there's no signs of road love on the front at all, none, nada zip.
More than pleased I had it installed.

Found out on my last Tundra not to get the high pressure nozzle too close to ppf/paint, as it blew a hole open in the ppf. (rip)

Self wash bay is okay because you can control the distance and angle. Automatic car wash is risky

You guys ppf truck like it's a collector item?

Never heard of tundras being in a car enthusiast's collection

But I would ppf a fancier sport car where ppl would point out rock chips on a fine ass automobile

I hear you. If my Tundra were a fleet style work truck that I would write off as equipment expense, then I can see why attention to paint might be a low priority. However, my truck is my only vehicle and I paid >$50k for it. I ask myself, how would I treat a $50,000 item of any sort... furniture, art, a show horse, etc. I have the luxury of a garage for storage and the time to keep my truck well maintained.

My Dad used to tell me something that has always stuck with me.... "there is nothing wrong with old or used, but no excuse for neglect".

I have PPF on all my vehicles, but I also live in Canada and there is rocks flying every time a car blows by you on the highway in the winter. Do my hood / head and fog lights / pillars / front of roof , and on this Tundra the whole plastic bumper / door handle cups. Runs about $1500 at a car shop , not the dealer.

I had a work truck that went thru those auto washes every fill up and never had an issue with it lifting . To me if it is lifting , you got a shitty install

Talking about shitty install. Don’t know where you are in Canada, but if you are in Toronto and area stay away from avotto.ca worst ppf installer.

After a recent road trip we are glad we had Expel PPF installed. It saved the paint on the front of our new truck. The amount of dead bugs was incredible, and hitting them at 75mph makes one heck of a mess!

also to add, the oem ppf hasnt yellowed or changed color, but then again it sits in the garage after work. but it does sit outside in the elements while at work from 5:30 am ( 5am if you include drive time) and dont get home until 5pm

and remember, it has to deal with up to -25F temps during the winter and can see 95F temps in the summer up here (ambient that is)

I have a 2019 that looks like shit due to mold getting under the ppf on the hood. I’m the second owner so I don’t know if is OEM or aftermarket but I’m stuck removing it.
Maybe the mold is just a southern thing as I had to remove it from the wife’s MDX hood after 5 years or so, too.
