Hi everyone - I don't have a Tundra yet, but I just put down a reservation this weekend for one.

Current vehicle is a 2015 Honda Pilot.

I put down a reservation for a black 2018 TRD Sport (since Pros are out of the question, at least for this first half of the year).

First of, you guys all seem like a nice group of folks! I've been lurking the posts and you guys put off a more positive Reddit vibe, haha.

Second, anyone have recent opinions on the 2018 TRD Sport? Anything I should worry about, or think about before pulling the trigger? I mean, this is site unseen so far. Don't even have pricing yet. Earliest they estimate is January.

    Thanks all!

    Edit: typo

Welcome from CO! No known issues with the 2018 yet as it’s still new with the same bullet proof engine.

Thank you. Well that's good. I looked at the Tacoma 2017 TRD Pro, which looked really nice (to me). But I started reading (I think in this forum) about so many issues. Sure, issues don't affect all, but it definitely swayed me the other way, when coupled with the difference in cabin space (kids and all). I have the Wife that needs to approve, and last thing I need is to tell her my new toy comes with defects!

Many of the 3rd gen Tacoma’s have many issues. Some were fortunate and did not have any, yet.

Where in Hawaii? Spent lots of time there in a past life. Hoping to get back soon.

Thanks for the video, haha. I'm on Oahu, winward side of things. Make sure you come back; no one leaves the island...

Welcome! You picked a solid truck. Yes, the sports are “new” this year, but they share the same engine/tranny/chassis as all of ours from 2007 and on. Needless to say, you made a very reliable choice.

    Iz was the man.

Love the windward side. Had a good friend that lived near Kahalu'u. Most of my time there was spent on the North Shore. We usually camped out at Keiki where I tried not to paralyze myself body surfing or swimming around with a camera. Need to get back. It's been far too long.

I like the north shore as well. Oahu isn't exactly what one expects from an island because it's so crowded, but the north shore and winward keep the feel alive.

Funny, People in other places say it's long in the tooth and boring, because it's made little changes. I like to think of it as not messing with the formula.

Now to wait the 3-4 months....

Honolulu is like LA. The North Shore is country and it is amazing.

I feel the same way. When buying a car, I like having the newest tech and gizmos but in a truck I wanted something that would never let me down.
