So what does a guy do with a 2005 Tundra with 190 thousand on it. Great engine and driveline. Beautiful body and paint. But it has a rotting frame. Maybe just plant flowers in the boxIMG_0300.jpg

That is a beautiful truck, what a pity. I have no clue, but can you get a frame directly from Toyota, and if so, how many organs/limbs does one need to fork over?? I mean the truck has a great value to it, rust free, low mileage-ish.

If it is gold except for the frame, then try and source a frame and you'll be "Golden"

the old joke is that once a car doesn't pass PA inspection they are sold in Ohio as new cars

That's hilarious. I've seen some pretty awful vehicles rolling around here. My favorite is the old Ford or Chevy sagging in the middle about to split like the Titanic.

My wife is from eastern PA and for years her mother hated everything about Ohio, where my wife and I live. Once while taking her parents back to PA we were behind a Nissan 4dr that had a partially attached rear sway bar dangling enough that old eagle eyes MIL spotted it and mentioned PA would never allow that car to be on the road. My smart assed remark was that Ohio drivers didn't need a nanny state to tell them when their cars needed repaired and that the Nissan driver was probably on his way to the dealer to get it repaired. I don't think it was 10 minutes later the right front wheel and tire departed the Nissan and took the Brice Rd exit off I70. Man was that a long trip to PA with her sneering at me every time I looked in the rear view mirror.

Unless you think it is going to fail catastrophically, just drive it conservatively. Don't scrap a good-running vehicle.

Post a picture of the frame. Mine looks like a sunken barge underneath and I still drive it.
