Honeycomb grill missing inserts?

So I went the cheap route and bought a gloss honeycomb grill from eBay. And while some of the images show the slots for the screws, mine is missing them. I see a lot of oem ones with it and even some aftermarket, but I’ve ordered and shipped back 2 eBay ones because they’re both like this. I’ve looked at parts breakdowns but does not show these slots are replaceable/serviceable. Anyone know for sure? Gonna make my own solution if not

 

Well the first problem is you bought it from eBay.

Second, those slots are molded directly onto the grill which holds a total of 4-10mm bolt.

 

That's a bummer, you definitely need to have those molded slots like @pvn.beluga stated. You're best bet would be too look for an OE take off on OfferUp or FB Marketplace. Depending on where you live, you'll find plenty on there. Hell I got one listed currently on there and I've seen at least 3 others. If you're in or near SoCal, lemme know.

 

okay yeah that’s what I figured from my research without seeing one up close in person. They looked completed plastic welded in there so that’s why I’m like hey eBay sellers yall idiots . But I ended up getting a bulge free, and then a grill free from each seller so I got a free set so I might as well make it work since it’s completely free.

I did install this last night and honestly putting the tabs on bottom basically holds it completely in. Might hit it with a zip tie or two through the bolt hole to fender, but honestly for a free grill it ain’t bad. Also had to fabricate the Toyota emblem in there since it just wouldn’t sit right. Came out good enough for me.

 

That looks good! I remember you posted about the center logo. Looks like you found one that works. Are Yoda's eye lit up red with LED? It looks like they are. That looks pretty cool

 

Thanks man! Yeah I definitely went the hardest route possible . But I wanted to try before I gave up and buy a pro grill and I’m happy. Always loved Star Wars and there’s ironically an empire and trooper sticker on the back so figured the Yoda would fit perfect. Next is getting rid of the chrome bumper.

 

Haha, you'd be surprised at the lengths some people do to make something work. Be happy that you don't have the TSS to deal with.

 

Dear lord that would have been a headache, especially with how poorly these eBay grilles are lining up haha. Most videos I was watching were all with sensors and that expensive ass emblem
