    "Beer as it should be"

I've pondered this when I did a 10yr stint at a beer distributor.

see...folks drink American light lagers....I would say at a 10,000:1 ratio.

    they are easy to drink.

IPA was created to keep it fresh for long journeys out of India. they added a shit ton of nasty-ass (estrogen laden) hops to it to keep it from spoiling. so, not really "as it should be"

and it tastes horrible. very harsh on the palette.

AND...check the date on all those nancy-boy craft brews. Generally speaking a beer is good for ~120 days if stored in a cool place.

Beer should only have the exact same ingredients as bread. (water, barley, yeast (& hops))
(yes, most beers use corn/rice as the carb-it's cheaper)
therefore, beer has a quantifiable shelf life. fresher is better.

Go to the brewery & taste fresh beer. it's awesome.
ask to taste fresh wort. it's like beer kool-aid. it's the base before they add yeast.

most craft beer (& IPA's) are way out of date....so, basically stale.
and puberty-beard fat slobs say it tastes great! LOL

and....craft beer (or any beer)from a keg is a genuine crap shoot. that has a 60 day freshness. IF it's kept very cold. remember keg beer has live yeast in it. (canned beer does not - it's pasteurized.) you keep keg beer over temp and you have created a nasty brew. the yeast becomes active when it get past 40' and starts to make alcohol & CO2.

in short. drink what you like.
but, for the love of Pete, please check the date on your brew.

FTR - my favorite brew was Zeigenbock from A/B. it was a Shiner Bock copy - but higher quality & smoother.

and the original recipe Shlitz was primo.

Times have changed. Colorado, home of the Great American Beer Fest, has hundreds of micro breweries. A thing here. No shortage of lagers of course. Plenty of fresh beer to be had here including master crafted IPA's. Word gets around here quicky if a micro brewer is serving beer that is not fresh. Competition is keen. No micro brewer here wants a bad reputation. There's no shortage of other beer purveyors to try out. There's probably a dozen within a few minutes drive from me. IPA's are quite popular in Colorado. Almost all my coworkers who drink beer prefer IPA's and double IPA's. A regional thing. Times have changed.

    times have changed, yes.

but, American light lagers sell ~100 million barrels a year.

it's nice to see small breweries do well.

Texas tried that and it ended up the big 3 brewers bought most of them out.

yes, there are some successful places, but very few. you have to really push some volume to cover costs.

and, some small breweries have their beer contract brewed & shipped in. it's sad.

We do it right here. We have some of the best craft brewers on the planet along with Portland and Seattle. The awards are proof in the pudding. Portland, Orygun started all this back in the 70's. Washington state is no slouch either. Damn good too. Washington brew masters have won numerous awards at the GABF. More micro's than CO now. Hell, Kommiefornia has over 900 I think. There are several successful places. Here in CO there is no issue covering volume. We like our craft beers immensely!

That was kinda the problem for me. It’s like drinking a small loaf of bread. Wreaks absolute havoc on your insulin levels. High abv is just the brain fog icing on the cake.

I honestly feel so much better all the time not drinking alcohol anymore. I also don’t eat within a couple hours of going to bed and lift heavy first thing in the AM. 3 eggs + 3 egg whites for breakfast. Protein shake mid morning. Steak and organic rice for lunch. Same thing with carrots and/or celery for dinner.

I’m just trying out this whole “eating real food” thing. High protein. No processed crap. No machine lubricant. No added sugar.

My kids will be stronger and faster than me one day, for sure. But I’m not going to make it easy for them to get there. :transformer:

It’s that time of year when the house is cold just in the morning. My wife complained about it. I told her to stand in the corner, it’s always 90 degrees there.
