i am considering going to just 1 set of tires instead of summer and winter. They are a pain to store, I hate changing them, and I really dont drive much anymore so its hard to justify 2 sets.
Sounds like a solid choice. Any idea where they are made?

Falken Tires are made in USA. I also see they are a solid 3 ply sidewall.
3-ply DURASPEC technology provides a thicker and stiffer sidewall construction compared to its 2-ply counterpart. This means that the 3-ply construction is built to endure harsher off-road conditions for farther distances. The 3-ply DURASPEC technology was previously only available on our Wildpeak M/T and Wildpeak R/T tires, so we’re proud to introduce this feature to an all-terrain tire as well.
    All according to website

    WILDPEAK A/T4W | Falken Tires

Winning tire @ King Of the Hammers 3 times. Not this specific tire.
Don't think that tire is available to us regular types.

The site says Japan, but I have zoomed into a bunch of pictures on the internet and every one has said Thailand on the tire. Apparently they have come out of factories in Japan, Thailand and USA.

Sorry, I was editing as I read. I think since 2019 they are made in Buffalo, NY now. Huge plant upgrade.
I'm a diehard Toyo fan. I run MT's on both land cruisers, but my Tundra isn't a land cruiser and has totally different
working life. I originally went with the Cooper AT3 as 2 were new already when bought and my short time on this
forum they seemed really popular with the regular southern US crowd - read 'no winter'.
AT4W is specifically made for winter use. I'm looking at 285/75R18 as they are E rated and designed for 8" wheel.

I'd like to know if this has been confirmed with anyone who owns them. I'll be shocked if they are Made in USA.

It's very similar for me. Our Honda Pilot gets a Blizzaks as it's our family driver and it's just so much nicer for long trips. The Tundra just gets a good set of All Terrains.

That's the same size I am looking at. I may be the minority, but I am keeping the OEM wheels.

The short list right now is:

    Falken Wildpeak AT4W
Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac (very reliable commercial tire - you see them all over the oilfields)
Yokohama Geolandar A/T XD. (another commercial rated tire that does quite well)
Cooper Discoverer (I loved the STT Maxx on the Tacoma but the Tundra is a different beast)

I think it will likely be the Falken, but I still have time to decide.

    @mountainpete
I have the Cooper AT3 on Tundra and just not that impressed with winter traction. It's 2WD but they didn't help or
compensate even with almost 1K lbs in the back.

I'm liking the Falken A/T4W, Toyo RT Trail, BFG AT/HD, BFG AT3's but not found in Canada yet, Good Year Duratracs
get better winter rating in northern BC than the BFG AT, but softer and less life, --- all in 285/75R18

Our Pilot has Toyos. I looked at Blizzaks but just couldn't justify the cost difference given that we've put less than 8000 km on it in the last 20 months and pretty much all of that in the city.

I had AT3W, it was very quiet and easy to balance, but heavier than all other tires by a few lbs and it was bit stiff, AT4W now has 35x11.5r18 in c-load, which is really an ideal size.

I had Yoko G015, super quiet, and it lasted, I had 90k km on one set and was amazing in snow, had X-AT, it was OK, it wore funny and was difficult to balance, it was honestly a disappointment compare to the G015, never tried the new A/T XD because of it.

The KO2s now I like a lot, it's light, soft, balances well, and I was half expecting crap rain traction but so far has been great, it may have to do with the c-load index.

Just got the truck back from Honeyseal, in short, it's worth it, I had Crown the truck since day 1 but rust was showing through and it looks honestly like dog-poop, their warranty meant not a single thing. I had it done with Jake, he owns the GTA location, dry-ice blast, acid stripped the surface rust then the coating went on, it looks better than new, he took over 100+ photos, will post the full chassis photos when I get them.

Ok, only seen videos etc of dryice blasting and honeyseal. I use Cosmoline, looks like identical finish.
But as I have to ask, you can pm if you don't want to publish but how much does doing your truck to look like
that actually cost? I've got one land cruiser completely done now. The second is in line, it's just a ghastly
process to do at home. The new Tundra is rough, so not being an eastern truck but sure seriously interested??

Out here in Edmonton our biggest issue is ice and slack jawed steering wheel holders that cannot drive when the roads are dry. I'm getting some studded Nokian Hakkapeliitas for her this fall. I've had them on 5 other cars including my wife's GX460 and they are the cats azz for the winter conditions around here. Especially when we have to drive to Manitoba in the winter, that North Battleford to Regina section has ice thats up to Scotties tournament of hearts worthy.

I've got the Nokian LT3s on order too, 315/70r17, the largest snow tires I can find, I hope it gets here this year.

I drove my tundra brand new from the lot from Winnipeg to Edmonton for Honeyseal. Hands the the best option out there for rust. Ive oil sprayed for years. Regardless of what you use to coat, it’s only as good as the surface prep. Oil every year just goes over last years stuff. Nothing cleans like dry ice.

I saw ted in Edmonton. Brand new tundra, wheel wells were removed, Honeyseal applied to inside of door panels, tailgate, etc. entire undercarriage, including inside of frame, wheel wells.

took a day, and all said and done it was 1100cdn plus tax. Well worth it.

Take before and after pics and post them please!! PM me directly when you do so I make sure to see them.
I'm on Vancouver Island but am very seriously planning a spring trip with my one land cruiser. Really want to
see how your truck goes. Post a thread as well. Just a basic job on my 2010 RCSB would be worth a second trip
later. It's in good shape despite it's history in Alberta as well, some time under a Sask owner but I think he was in
BC for most of that time.

Anyone have any good mechanic recommendations for Southwestern Ontario? Preferably in the Sarnia-London areas. Looking to have my timing belt done on my 2006 4.7V8. Thanks

The OK Expedition skid plate arrived. Really well made. Matched up with @Mykeromachine cat shields well - except with so much coverage tightening the bolts where they overlap was a massive pain!

I like those, I always wonder if the long range tank would sit flat against the shields.

I've lived in Ontario pretty much all my life and this was the first time we camp in Algonquin, it was truly beautiful and the tourists can be overwhelming on weekend, we stayed at Pog lake, but Source Lake was truly something else in terms of serenity, actually going to pick up a canoe because of it.

Source Lake, it was so serene I feel words can't describe the feel, it feels like Northern Ontario without having to drive 10hrs.

cool view, the trails are essentially un-walkable on weekends thanks to sheer amount of people.

I'm a BC boy. I spent 4 yrs as a kid in Guelph with parents that had us hiking in Algonquin, my grandparents had 3 acres and a
cabin in Muskoka - 2-3 cedar canoes and row boats. In the last 15 years I've spent major portions of my summers in North Bay,
Thunder Bay and Geraldton as pilot. Absolutely most beautiful place on earth on the ground and in the sky.
I'm so close to buying one of these, just problem with getting it home!

It's a deep end of canoe-ownership, Swift has some amazing stuff but some of the prices are hard to swallow, the want is carbon fiber lol, the need says just get a cheap used one for now and learn to paddle first.

Find a Chestnut. Seems the younger people don't want 'old' things. I had a Chestnut, sadly lost it. I now have a
Greenwood Cedar/Canvas from original owner. Vintage 1956. It's gorgeous. I've unfortunately gotten too old to lift
a 115 lb canoe onto the roof of a 6.5' SUV! I will need to modify a bobber trailer before I can take it out.
Chestnut will track really well and easily, perfect canoe to learn. Don't get too big, don't know how much family
you have, but 16' is ideal. I want that 14' Carbon/kevlar Pak Canoe as it only weighs 29 lbs!! That I can lift into
    my retirement. LOL
