@shifty` how's the weather out your way looking today? Saw that Georgia is gonna get hit/got hit with some stuff here and there, Atlanta has flood warnings etc.

Storm just passed over, it's moving fast. Solid rain for the last 2.5 - 3 days and subsided about 30min ago as the center of the storm was reaching the GA/SC border.

Hoping it's as gentle for you guys (@Tundra2, @kentuckyMarksman etc.) as it was for us. Hope that big swirlyboy doesn't spin off some of the smaller swirlyboys for y'all.

Missed the Khruangbin concert last night. Disappointed about that. Drove there, in the rain, paid $8 for 4hrs parking only to walk over to Fox Theater and read a sign saying, "shows canceled". Fucking Fox Theater needs to work on their systems. Several people came up like us, some commuted quite a ways, paid for parking, walked over, only to read a 'sorry, but nope' sign. They have our phone numbers. Can't believe they didn't contact us in advance.

But yeah, otherwise all good here.

Yeah, even on Russian drones, as we've seen the last 24 hours! Amazing how that works.

But yeah, no thanks. Sadly, the internet service from Starlink I've read about is similar in quality to the internet DirecTV or Dish was offering a couple decades back. Wildly variable speeds, various events can effect the connection, and while it's better overall, it still isn't great.

Yeah, seems all good here as well, just a bunch of rain and some wind, time will tell I guess but doesn't look like anything wild and crazy coming through any time soon.

In all of her dick-and-balls-ness, Helene looks like she'll fizzle out right about on top of y'all. You guys are right in the sac. Although seems to be trending more toward Nashvegas right now.

That was part of why we decided against it, along with the cost. We were on the wait-list before it launched and after seeing the equipment cost plus the monthly payment decided to stick with Verizon 4GHome since it's $50/month and pretty predictable speed wise.

My parents lived on VZW's 4G home service for the 1st couple of years after they moved to southern AL and liked it. But nothing else was available. Then the local cable provider started to offer broadband internet a year or two later. Then Spectrum started offering cable service when the local provider failed. Last week, someone was running fiber down the highway near their place and offered them gig fiber to the home, they took it. Pricing is cheaper than what Google Fiber is asking here in ATL for 1gig service, and it's only ~15% more per month for 2gig service. I'm sure they'll start crawling up the rates after they hit a certain subscriber count, they always do. but for now, never had a clearer weekly video call with them.

Unless I hit the lottery fiber is never making it to my house lol.

Cable maybe, it's within a mile but the last few conversations I've had with the company they aren't planning on running it anytime soon.

That sucks, but if VZW is working, run with it man. I'd rather use cellular internet than satellite internet every day of the week. The closer you can be to the point of transmission, the better off you are. Furthermore, with no dish or receiver to tinker with, dealing with an OTA transmission style, you're better off!

Yeah it's a pretty solid 25 down most of the day, slows down in the evenings but it's steady enough that my wife can work from home and stream video.

One of these days I'll grab an outdoor antenna and that should help considering it's only got 2 bars of service.

This isn't directed at you, but it's quoted and everyone can see it. Not going to delete it since we don't run from problems.

This whole Mr. Bee and VR6T will get aired out right now.

I don't see a whole lot of other generation owners coming in here talking crap about your own personal decision to own a 1st gen truck. In fact, pretty good decision since they seem to have a long history of reliability and customer satisfaction. If someone actually does that...we have no problem coming down on them pretty hard. Visa versa also holds true.

When members go into other sections within this site, shitbomb and then leave it will be dealt with rather quickly.

For the most part, the 1st gen is solid with the members on here. We have some pretty basic rules that are easily followed. When members start thinking they can say whatever they want to other members/staff on these sites, this is when a problem starts. We always love the 1st amendment argument on a privately owned and operated site.

We have had prior members start their own sites...even encouraged it. Interesting enough, after a short period they put in place rules just like we have on here (or very similar). These sites also have gone nowhere. The vast majority do not want to come on a site that is a total crap show without any rules.

Moving forward, this will handled quickly.

As if one tree wasn't enough, TWO fell on the damn house.

What'd he do to set himself up for such trials and tribulations, my friend?

He need a hand with anything we forum members may be able to pitch in on?

Sun just started brimming out between bands here in ATL. Still windy, but the brunt appears past us. Some big trees down in the 'hood, but that's expected, Atlanta is the "city in the forest" after all.

It's fairly straight forward of a swap...comparatively to probably any other truck manufacturer out there. My wrecked 2000 4wd AC donor truck made financially since i retained my totalled truck from my insurance company for $500...then had to do a little bit of butting heads with the manager of the impound lot where the truck was stored outdoors...through the winter...with the window open. I had the impound lot reimburse me $200 for the additional damage, so out the door price was $300. I then sold the contractor canopy off of it for $400. I then found a 2004 AC 2wd on craigslist with a blown engine for around a $1000. If you don't have a donor vehicle, then it will nickel and dime you.

    Some of the parts needed-
    -4wd transmission
    -T case
-front diff and ADD sub-wire harness
    -front and rear driveshafts
    -left and right CV axles
-4wd hubs (that are pressed into the wheel bearings)
    -4wd transmission crossmember
    -4wd ecu box
    -4wd engine harness and sub-harness
    -4wd dash panel

Luckily both the 2wd and 4wd trucks are all modular, so everything is bolt in and go. No welding, cutting, or fabricating is needed.

The flooding in the mountain towns around here is horrible. Helene did a number on those towns and the water is still rising in places.

The eastbound lanes of I40 were taken out by the Pigeon River. I just went through there Tuesday on my way to Charlotte.
