I thought someone said it was possible to do bushings and not fully remove rack. Just pry and tilt or scoot a little just right...

 

While you can and I attempted for about for about 10 minutes, before I said "F this" and just pulled it all out. 6 hour job with proper tools, extra hands (@TRDFerguson @TundraPHX) and a whole lot of emotional support.

 

Depending on mileage, I'd almost rather buy a new steering rack and install bushing on the new one.

 

Not a bad idea and I had this thought as well.

 

I've done it this way and it is a massive PITA. Both knuckles were bloody by the time I was finished and my beers kept getting warm from neglect.

 

Looking to throw some 37s on my SR5 TSS offroad. This is the lift I am looking at and the bumper to help with that front clearance. Will also be getting +25offset wheels and a BMC. I've already got fenders on the truck. Will this be enough? From what I've seen on plenty of forums from yall this should be but I want to make sure before I pull the trigger.

Im not sure those Fox 2.0 coilovers are gonna handle the weight of that huge bumper.

How do you plan on using the truck offroad? Gravel side roads? Lots of washboard? Slow and technical trails? Fast and bumpy? What part of the country do you live in and what kind of trails are there?

I’d consider getting 2.5” coilovers and skip the UCAs if budget is important. You can always add UCA later if you want, but I think a 2.0 and huge bumper may be disappointing if you’re looking for off road handling.

 

I plan on using the truck for moderate off roading. simple overland back country type use. not racing or anything. the bumper is being considered to help with any front clearance issues.

I saw that you are using ICONs suspension system on your tundra. do you prefer those compared to FOX? And for clarification is the 2.0 and 2.5 the rating of the spring for what it can handle or its it just a generation newer?

and budget is not important. I'm just going to do it right the first time and not skip out on anything. not a patient dude.

 

Spring rate is completely separate from the shock body. The 2.5 has a larger shock body(.5” larger than 2.0), increased oil capacity and larger piston. For the Tundra with 37s the 2.0 will be getting worked harder than the 2.5. The spring rate will come in to play with or without the bumper. Again, with extra weight the 2.0 will have to work harder even with the properly weighted coil. FWIW, I run Kings with a 2.5 shock body, 650 lbs springs with belly skids a front bumper and winch (still on 35s)
