Hi new member, I need help with my 2010 Toyota Tundra platinum CrewMax GPS Navigation System

I have owned my 2010 Toyota Tundra platinum CrewMax for 5 yrs. and am the 2nd owner. For the first 2 yrs. everything worked fine but about 3 yrs. ago I started having small intermediate problems with the map, GPS navigation system, not enough for me to bother with it at first. But over time it has been getting a lot worse. So I then about a year ago I bought a new updated DVD on Ebay or Amazon, can't remember where and replaced the old with new DVD, now but it is doing the same thing maybe even worse because now when I Start the truck it is taking a while for it to upload and about within every 5 to 10 minutes of travel it starts going in & out and acts like it is re-booting. It will say on the screen " No DVD Please insert map DVD" and then it will load and do it all over aging with the new DVD in it. So’ it is not even acknowledging it or if the radio is on that will also go out at the same time. When the truck is cold it is even worse. I don't know if I did not do it all right or bought a bad DVD. Even wondering if I may have a loose connection in there somewhere. I have included copies of the original DVD disc & the new one, the 1st two is the original & the 2nd is the new. Please any advice could help! This is driving me crazy! LOL

Sounds like your Data drive is failing.

I am sure this is not what you want to hear, but that system is wildly outdated. I replaced mine with a Carplay unit almost immediately when I got it in '22.

Cel data based nav is much better than anything that system can offer plus you get all the other Carplay/Android Auto connected features.

Hello, you are right its the last thing I wanted to hear but I have a feeling you are right. Can I ask you to be a little more pacific with what you replaced it with? Carplay unit, is that a built-in replacement or a portable unit? And what does Cel data based nav mean? Where did you get it? Amazon or etc? How much did it cost? And did you install yourself? Please know that I am just learning about all this. Thank you so much for replying so fast, I live in NJ and home a home in the Pocono's so my husband and I travel back in forth a lot and this unit is driving me crazy with the way it is acting. Thank you again

    Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)!
Carplay unit: A replacement head unit (basically the stereo part) that includes Apple Carplay (or Android Auto if you have that type of cell phone)
Cel data: Cellular data, meaning you actually use Google Maps, Waze, or some other phone based GPS software, connected to your Carplay unit via Bluetooth

A replacement head unit with Carplay will never have to have the maps updated because the app on your phone gets updated (for free) whenever you install the updates.

There are several good replacement head units, some that look like they are OEM. You can search this site (especially the Audio & Video forum) for lots of ideas.
