I probably missed it but where are you currently? 1k month property tax sounds like somewhere that has trash, sewer, and all sorts of other stuff included in it, and probably no sales tax or other such incentive. Our FL beach house doesn't even have that high, and we get taxed on everything out there.

I really enjoyed living in Arizona for the 5 years I was there but the summer season heat just became too much. I have always been much more active in the summer with the warmer weather and longer days and less active in the winter. Living in the valley I just couldn't adjust my activity levels to how things were out there and ended up not doing remotely the amount of outdoor things I had done for most of my life.

I will stick around California for maybe another year and save up before moving somewhere else as this place is just too crowded. Let us know if you ever make it out to Arizona to check it out and let us know what your impressions are.

Didn't read the entire thread, just came to say run away!

It's hot hot hot 5+ months, it's cooler today and is 93 only because it is humid (60%. I'm escaping this hellscape asap)

It's all relative. I don't find it uncomfortably hot until end of May and through middle of September but I don't get how people are able to be out physically in the sun doing any activity. We pretty much do only indoors in summer, which I don't love it for the kids but summers are definitely hotter here than they were when I was a wee one. It's tough having kids with summer breaks and parks are too hot to use, but plenty of splash pads, pools and lakes to shift activities. Hiking here in summer is dangerous, and we have too many that die from it every summer, but morning golf is cheap so there is that ;)

If there were jobs and better schools, I'd prefer the climate of NM myself. They get snow, but it's mostly decorative.

I'd live in Prescott or Flag if jobs, but I'd need to borrow someone's chloroform to get it done, as my wife is diametrically opposed to me on the idea of snow.

Unfortunately, many of the homes there don't even have A/C, because we didn't know about climate change, smoking whilst pregnant was bad and thought leaded fuel was just what was needed to make our fuel stop acting like a door-to-door salesman.

Totally agree. If my life circumstances allowed me to move to Prescott, I would be there right now. I like warmer weather but being cooped up inside all summer long just wasn't for me. That was my life in valley and being in Maricopa County in general. By the time the weather cooled off, days were shorter and I would have maybe an hour of daylight after work.

I get the fear/disdain of the snow, but honestly we tend to get less than 10 days of snow a year. Totally worth the tradeoff for 70° days Feb-May, and Sept-Nov.

And yeah gotta make sure you have AC.

I'll check that area out, but thats a little cooler for a long time than I was thinking. Im not really wanting the other extreme in phoenix, too much there

it looks a lot less than 70s in feb for the averages?

I think phoenix would be a bit too much for me, I like that tuscan and other places seem to be 10ish less and cooler nights.

its amazing the climate differences when you look at the monthly historical averages, lots of variation in the state.

I was probably a little off in saying Feb for 70° days. Keep in mind mid-50's at 5300' elevation and sunny really will feel quite a bit warmer in the sun than a mid-50's day in the Midwest.

That being said even if that means March-May (sometimes even as late as June), and September-November are primarily 70° days, it's pretty hard to beat that.

It basically means that almost any outdoor activities are comfortably do-able 300+ days a year here.

Yea outside of the snowy days (again usually less than 10 of those per year), it's basically always sunny.
