HVAC blower fan upgrade

My kids will be thrilled. I will order this next time there is a discount going on, since I will be in a surgery in the next 72 hours, there is no point ordering now that I can't do anything for two weeks anyway.....lol

I ordered mine on 8/25 during the previous sale. When I called the next week to check, Eric, the online order guy at Serra, said that they had received 1,100 orders, so it would take a few weeks to get to me. Got an invoice and my card was charged 9/11, but no shipping announcement yet.

We have become very spoiled with being able to order stuff 24/7 and have it in a few days. I remember ordering things by mail and most of the time the fine print said "please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery."

 

Just got an email from Serra. Backordered with an ETA of 25 October.

I ordered the same part from Fred Anderson on 9/3. They shipped it on 9/10 and UPS says it should be here today.

 

I ordered mine from Serra Toyota.

 

Mine just came, slapped it in, nada, pulled the plug, put it back in the old one, nada. I blew something somehow.





I checked all the HTR/seeming fan related fuses & swapped the relay with the tow relay, o volts at the connector.

I have nothing under the plastic deal & don't see the 50 amp HTR that the fuse box top says is next to a 180amp alternator fuse.







Don't see a blower fuse. Does anyone know where it is?

Found a video on the main fuse under the plastic, can't see a damn thing in there. Everything else works so I doubt that is the issue.

 

Maybe a wire pin came loose and isn’t making solid contact inside the connector? Sorry I’m not more helpful here

The connectors are big pieces of metal, I can see them & get 0.3-0.7 volts on my Fluke. Everything I have searched points to the fusible I just don't get why it would have blown.

Do the motors have some kind of logic that keeps them from running on 12v? I gave both power & neither budges.

They reversed the damn connector at the motor!



I get 10 seconds with the data line grounded with the old motor, the new motor is toast. Adios 110 bucks, don't understand how others were able to P&P.

 

I would contact them and see what they say. I'll have to check mine when it arrives next month.

 

Not anyone's fault but mine, should have checked. My penance is installing the new main fuse & losing/trying to find someone to fix the burnt motor (if possible)

 

what was the part number of the motor you removed? Wonder if the sequoia is different.

 

How does one verify the correct wiring orientation.

I just dove into this… the Sequoia uses a different part number from the Tundra. 87103-0C050 vs

$151 87103-0C040 Blower Motor Sub-Assembly

87103-0C040 respectively. The Sequoia part is already the upgraded brushless type, so there’s no need to swap it. Toyota reversed the + and - terminals as compared to the Tundra. This was likely done to prevent folks like us from easily upgrading/swapping the Tundra to the brushless Sequoia piece. Toyota did not reverse the terminals on the brushless Land Cruiser parts, so we can plug and play swap it into the Tundra.

 

My 60481 arrived from Fred Anderson today. (Ordered 9/10). I will install it this weekend.

 

Did you install yours yet?
