Why are you guys nervous? Seriously? Because you read this forum? Drive it like you stole it, clean it like you owe on it, and change the oil.

For sure , lol. That door panel is so light and flimsy, no reason to lag bolt it. By the way frame , rear axle, front knuckles are more heavy duty/ durable on gen3. I guess they tried to compensate for crappy interior materials, lol

yep, they sold 104,000 tundras in 2022, 125,000 tundras in 2023 and 105,000 already in 2024 - about 350k gen 3s already. 300 to 500 owners had huge issues with the trucks. So chance for you to have catastrophic issue with the truck is around 0,1% or 99.9% chance that you'll be fine.

    https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/toyota-tundra-sales-figures/

my brothers gen2 2011 tundra destroyed tranny for no reason at 105k miles, my coworker have a 2007 4.7 v8 tundra with knocking engine and "only" 120k miles. I had 2010 tundra and sold it with 330k miles - no issues. Sold 2018 with 50k miles - no issues. Sold 2014 with 92k miles - no issues. I have 20k miles on my 2023 - no issues so far. So everyone experience is different anyway

This doesn’t compute with the numbers in the recall even, let alone the wastegate or rear axle problems.

I can respect all of that except you don't mention which oil to use.

I'm talking about catastrophic engine failures etc most of the problems are getting fixed. Don't forget that most of those 100k engines that are recalled did not fail - it is safety recall.
I was able to get my 2023 tundra limited for less than 45k because of this fear so i'm ok with that ( almost bought 2022 back in 2022 for 5k over msrp, lol)

Needing your engine replaced would fall under huge issue to me.

Not to disrespect anyone, but the 5.7L has its own issues. And some are pretty big ones. Now they may to have to replace the entire engine, but heads are fairly common though.

Replace cylinder heads? For what? It is a "common thing" since that CCN's video.

I don't know what CNN's video is, but the spark plug tubes start to leak and there is no way to reseal them, because they are pressed into the head. No granted this does not happen at 38K miles, but as these engines age they show their flaws. Again not trying to argue with anyone, my dad has one of these trucks and I hope it goes forever for him, but they do have issues as well, IMO they are not as bullet proof as people think.

Any old engine will leak oil and coolant, believe me. As long as it starts and drives 500 miles to wilderness and back I'm fine with any leaks. Knowing the engine can do it brings peace of mind.

Maybe I should not have said "fairly common" but its not unheard of either.

Maybe should have said the air injection pumps are fairly common instead lol

I’ve literally never heard of that issue. Timing chain tensioner, cam tower leaks, and valve spring failures are not unheard of. Other than the cam tower leaks, not very common at all.
