Mine was fine last night. Started it remotely this morning from the app. Went out and the engine wasn't running even thought the app said it was started and was doing the 10 minute countdown. Got into the (fairly cold) truck and started it up. CEL and remote rear brake assist warnings lit up "take to dealer" (I'm working out of town 100 miles from home).
Runs fine. Main issue is I can't seem to remove the warning from the info screen permanently so loss of all that data. I really wish they could permanently remove the "rear remote brake assist" as I back into my parking lot spot right up until I brush into a little hedge. It slammed on the brakes twice yesterday. Problem is, it's so long if I don't pull that far in I risk getting hit in the front by someone.

No idea what the CEL is but I have no choice but to drive home in the morning. It seems fine and isn't giving a do not drive warning. When my 911 throws a code it lists whether it's OK to drive normally, at reduced speed or "park as soon as safe and call roadside assistance"

Not a fear , it’s rather a concern, I travel all around the country, and there are places where there is no cell service , radio or anything else . it would really suck breaking down in a new truck that far from home. Probably will bring the Harley in the back of the bed

Funny… I also have a 911 - 2013 C4S. And it threw a CEL on me right before a trip from Los Angeles to Seattle! It did say it was okay to drive but still left me feeling a bit uneasy. Still, I had to go so I went for it and, after a few cycles, the CEL disappeared. Never ran or drove like anything was off… So no f’ing clue what it was.

That’s the thing with just about any modern(ish) vehicle with their 17 billion sensors - One little thing goes wrong for a millisecond and it throws a code. Doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world but also could! And I don’t frankly fully trust the computer telling me “ok to proceed” or not. It’s unnerving no matter what.

And in terms of quality issues, the 911 is a great case. Most of them are rock solid! But some have PDKs that grenade on you out of nowhere…. And if you have a 991.1 GT3, that whole damn engine might pop at a moment’s notice. BUT, they’re absolutely incredible vehicles and, as long as you keep warranty coverage on them (I have a Fidelity Platinum plan on mine), you’re covered. Something breaks, get it fixed then enjoy your amazing car again.

Or… Alternatively… Drive a Toyota Corolla or Camry and hate your life behind the wheel. The choice is easy for me.

Literally all makes and models have failures. Some more frequent and common than others, but I think Toyota has a pretty solid reputation over its existence and, even though it sounds like there are some issues with these Tundras (and seemingly rather uncommon) I can tell you they’re absolutely far less problematic than the number one selling 1/2 ton pickup in the world for decades on end.

I hope mine never breaks but, if it does, I’ll get it fixed and carry on.

I tow around a 10,000 GVWR work trailer just about everyday with no problems (I have none of the AVS stuff nor is it lifted. Platinum just like yours with a diff color). I got a WDH to use but I could have gone without it.

Thanks and agreed! I dig the black trim on the tailgate. Doesn’t look like every other truck out there.

Congrats on the Tundra. I went from an F150 to the Tundra as well. The more I drive the Tundra the more I like it. I've had zero issues and it keeps running better.

Here we are in June 2024. Toyota had a recall on bearings for non hybrid. I have both the tundra and sequoia limited hybrid. As a former t-ten tech, I’ve never been so disappointed in Toyota and their customer service. I’ve been taking making my vehicle to the dealership for the notorious vibration issue with the sequoia being severely worse than the tundra. Fts got involved along with corporate and all they can say is that the vehicle is operating as intended. I’m just waiting for the recall on the engines with hybrid so I can get mine fixed. I love both trucks but that crap should not be vibrating especially at the price range.

i understand where you are coming from. I had friend with an almost full motor rebuild because it locked up due to the current crank bearing issue. After another 20k miles through the new build, the motor failed again due to the same issue. The sad thing is that Toyota won’t touch it unless it’s towed in. Their customer service has significantly declined.

    2” lift 33” tires
Where do I start? Let’s start with the thieves at the dealership. Started with Yokohama tires in the show room. As I’m signing the papers on this 85k boat anchor they steal the Yokohama tires off the truck and replace them with basic Goodwrench tires. Weekend after while trying to upgrade I notice cheapest tires available. When confronted the owner lies to my face. While getting the lift and new tires. The second different dealership just takes my brand new cheap tires. These Seats are like sand bags. I developed a serious sciatic issue. I can’t sit in them more than a couple hour without being in constant pain. Unless I have the newest phone,,, truck will connect to ANYONE other than my phone. Safety systems are ridiculous. Slams the brakes on when parking!! I had a 2” lift put on. Toyota lift. To much +camber so the outside of tires is wearing out fast. “It’s within spec”. No I find out it can’t be adjusted because the truck isn’t built that way so I’m stuck with wearing out tires the life of the truck. My advice? DON’T !! GMC! Don’t give two @#$&s about how long this truck/pain will last. I’ll never buy another Toyota! Ever

Sorry to revive this, but did you ever figure out the brake noise in reverse? Happening to me this week, and I can’t account for it for reasons like dirt or sand.

Brake noise only lasted a few days. I equate it to having mud and sand after putting a couple hundred off-road miles on it. Im at 37k miles now. Still have tire wear on outside, even after updated specs, who knows
