Column shifter VS Floating head unit.....

Hey everyone. I have a 2016 DC with a column shifter and in the market to purchase a aftermarket head unit. I've seen come floating head units on crutchfield that I'm interested in but my main concern with them is my column shifter making contact with the floating head unit. Anyone out there have a floating 9-10 inch head unit that also has a column shifter and does not make contact with each other?
My other option would be to get a Dasaita Andriod 13 since it looks "factory" but hesitant about it with all the so-so reviews on it.

 

I have the column shifter also, I think floating head unit would be very close. As you know, that shift lever is sort of long. I replaced my factory unit with jvc/kw unit that looks factory. Did it to add CarPlay. Pretty happy with it other than having a bad cable in back, was a pain to track down but member here pointed me in right direction, $12 fix.

 

Even if it doesn't contact, I'm guessing the lever would still cover some of the screen. I'd probably avoid the Daisaita as they seem to be hit or miss like you referenced. Not sure if anyone's done it, but perhaps you could shorten the lever? Not sure how the tow/haul button is attached, could shorten and re-thread it if it's threaded by chopping it somewhere like here so long as it doesn't then hit the steering wheel:


Or perhaps buy a donor lever, pop it in a vice and bend it? I'm sure a fab shop could make one that'd work better would probably just get spendy quick.

If you don't go the floating or big screen route, a ~7" touch screen with the Metra dash trim kit is a pretty close match to factory.

 

I've been comparing Joying, Dasaita and Viabecs head units and I tend to research things to death. Joying has a 11.6 floating screen and saw the 13in Dasaita unit also but and I'm leaning towards the 10.1in Joying so it would look more factory builtin and nothing is sticking out or floating in from of the dash. Even 10.1 is pretty big. I also looked at Tesla style ones and don't care for them. From everything I read both Joying and Dasaita have great customer support and will work with you to overcome any issues. So I'm going to go with the Joying 10.1 and probably buy their AR front and back cams or possibly a tailgate cam but I see a lot of the aftermarket tailgate cams break fairly easy. Looking like you can use the front AR cam as a dash cam too so that would be nice. Both units support apple car play and android auto. I also think the Joying might have better audio support and better eq options.
