I got this quote for a limited 4x4. Is it good/bad ? The trade in is a pretty good condition tacoma v6 rear wheel drive. Carvana quoted me 28k for the tacoma. They told me it would be at 2.9% APR but it isn't really reflected on the quote

Is it a hybrid or not? Also you could sell your Tacoma to Carvana, take the 28k and put it down on the tundra. That would net you an extra 1000 over the taxes and fees. Not huge in the grand scheme of things. But might give you leverage to get more out of the trade from the dealer telling them that.

non-hybrid. I'm going to let them know that about carvana. They were trying to say the carvana appraisal was pending a "review" by carvana, but after researching 99% of the time carvana gives you the appraisal value.

Yea I would say it’s definitely a good discount. But I would get the price of the trade up a little. Especially with the 2025s coming to lots now they will want to move the 2024s

    I am definitely getting old.

I will never see $60,000 for a pick up truck as a good deal.

I posted last year around this time what my quote and purchase looked like. It was nearly identical to yours. It was 6k off MSRP of 66k. I think you could do better though. And I would get the latest build date possible.

I just picked up a 24 Limited, non hybrid in Smoked Mesquite for over 10K off sticker. But that's with a Toyota employee discount. Traded in my 19 Superduty & there was only $3000 difference between the two. Sticker was 65K, I paid $54k & change.

    Dont buy from Carvana lol.

I found a 2016 BMW Z4 35IS 2 years ago and the pictures looked perfect. Had them ship it 2000 miles from Texas to my house. Is showed up and the entire front bumper was utterly destroyed with gouges and scratches. Same with the sides of the car behind all 4 wheels (looked like it had been rallied on gravel for an entire race). The read bumped had parallel cut lines in it. The passenger side tires were brand new, the driver side tires were bald (isnt that great for a real wheel drive sports car). Several other major issues, I didnt even let them take it off the truck... said... "get it out of here". I then went to Carmax and found an absolute perfect condition 2016 Z4 they brought up from California that ran absolutly perfectly for the 2 years I owned it. I even bought the Carmax warrentee becasue ya, its a BMW and you dont know when its gonna break down, only that it will. When I sold it, they refunded me most of that warrentee money. Great company.

$38,750 for 72 months with $6000 additional cash down the payment at 2.99% should be $497. The $512 payment is at 3.99%. Most of the nation is at 3.99% right now, but Texas should be 2.99%. As far as a good deal, I'm going to say anything around 10% off sticker is a good deal right now.

I base this on my own search. I ended up paying $57,600 for a TSRP $63,487 (9.27% discount). That was a Limited with a decent amount of options. I messaged LOTS of dealers seeing if I could get into a Platinum or 1794 with TSRP of $68k-$69k for $60k and nobody was willing to bite. Best offer I got was $61,500. I had dealers flat out tell me they couldn't go that low. I suppose I could have been more patient but after I sold my 2010 Tundra myself, I needed a truck!

Deal I cut on the Limited I purchased was at end of August, although I did not actually purchase until 9/14. The dealers I contacted were only in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa on that one. Looking for a Platinum or 1794 with TSRP of $68k-$69k for $60k prior to taxes and fees was done AFTER month end but encompassed dealers in the Eastern and Central time zones. Had a dealer in Kansas City, MO tell me they would sell one for $59,800 but when I asked to confirm that qualified for the low APR and to see it in writing they wanted to talk on the phone. So it must have been a fake deal.

Just to update they went down another $1,500. So I ended up at 58,750~ with the 2.9% apr deal and monthly payments of 474! Pretty happy

That seems like a nice deal to me. If others are reading that payment, please look at the sheet a couple posts up as it includes a trade. You aren't going to pay $474 a month on a $58,750 truck without a trade and/or a down payment.

I’m not sure you can really compare used vs new. When they both have 150k miles on them in a few years then you can, but right now it is a very personal choice of those 20k miles, if financing an interest rate that will be at least 2-2.5% higher than new, remaining warranty, any dents/scratches, etc.

A lot of the dealers don't negotiate till your in person, when I got my 22 it was 11/22 Black Friday, but I was already emailing that dealer for weeks, I ultimately said it's Black Friday weekend can I get more off MSRP cuz all these other guys giving away tvs and shit. The guy was just like we can't negotiate more until you come in, I even had a 220k Camry hybrid trade in worked in, in the end I didn't have to trade in my Camry and got it $1500 under msrp in middle of pandemic cuz it was end of month and they wanted to move units

    Fxclm5,

I totally get that some dealers won't really negotiate until I'm there in person. However, those are not the dealers for me. I was willing to drive pretty much anywhere within a day drive of me, but I will admit I then factor in cost of the drive when comparing deals. If dealers don't want to take me seriously over email that is their loss as I cannot travel hours to each dealer to see what kind of a deal they are willing to actually give. The day I purchased my new Limited I inquired about a Platinum with about 8k miles on it that was listed for $58,xxx. I asked if they would be willing to take $55k. Dealer called back and said best they could do was $56,xxx. They came down about $1400 from their advertised price however since I was financing, driving 6 hours each way, factoring in less warranty, etc. I was a buyer at $55k but not anything over. I have no idea if I was standing in their dealership if they would have taken me more seriously or not--but I guarantee if they told me they would sell it at $55k I would have been a buyer. As it stands they probably just think it doesn't matter what price they tell a person via chat or email--they will never buy.

No two deals are alike. What works for me may not work for you and vice verse. We just share our stories here in hopes of helping somebody out.

I don’t negotiate in person. If I’m interested I do it via text or email. I also get a cash price without a trade.

Lol you guys all keep acting like your the king negotiator.

Every dealer/sales/manager need to hit sales #, go get your deal and yes 20 years ago I did same thing ping all the internet managers of the dealers at the time told them xyz was offering lower and got them to fight for my business. Fast forward 2024 it whatever floats the boat for these dealers now, just dont settle till your 10k+ off MSRP, it's been this way for months now

Agreed Max......I never ever buy while I'm sitting in the dealers turf......let me talk to my manager stuff. They are all selling the same damn thing. Dealer #1 How much of a check do I need to bring you for a 2024 Tundra 1794 edition with black tires? Dealer #2 How much of a check do I need to bring you for a 2024 Tundra 1794 edition with black tires? and around and around we go until I can't feel their fingers on my leg reaching into my pocket.

Paid $63k on a TSRP of $66k for a 24 Limited Off-road 4x4 with JBL, Limited Power, Limited Premium, JBL, Heated steering wheel, pano roof, nano coating, bed liner. Basically a $56k truck with $10k in options, most of which I like. I wouldn't have paid for the bed liner (I use a bed mat) or the nano coating but it works, nicest vehicle I've owned with all the creature comforts.

Once my wife pushed me to add the nano for the interior (2 kids plus a lab puppy...), though they eventually basically gave this to me at $199 vs. the original $799 quote, and I did end up buying the extended warranty. There is a LOT of room to negotiate on that, BTW. Dealership initially quoted me almost $5k for 100,000 platinum extended warranty. I laughed at them, told them I would pay 1800 for it, max. Without batting an eye he came back and said, "ok, we'll do it for $1900"

I'm not big on extended warranties normally, but I also bought the warranty on my Tacoma in 2017 and, ultimately, had it in for the timing cover leak at 90,000 miles. It was a big job to pull the engine and would have been prohibitively expensive out of pocket. While my 24 seems perfect, literally can't find a fault with it no matter how hard I try, I know there's still risk with newer design...

So, while I got a "little" off MSRP, Toyota still got MSRP and then some w/ the add-ons. All-in (tax, title, extras, warranty, trade-in) I'm at $71k to drive this beauty.

If I had more TIME, I'd have hunted outside of my metro area and been willing to drive for the right deal... Kudos to those who've gotten some killer deals that way!

Purchased my Limited OR TRD -7/31/24 - July Build. Don't know if I got a cleaned up engine or not. Didn't know about the previous recall or I would have waited until '25. Keeping fingers crossed.
I got $5600 off sticker but was told I could have negotiated for more if I had known about the engine problems. Should have seen it coming since there was so many Tundras on the lot.

I secured a deal on a 24 recently, pretty ok with what I paid probably 4k off MSRP or plus value for my trade however you want to look at it. I will say this, please don't bite on the initial platinum warranty offer. 5k is insane. I've owned a LC 80, Tacoma and previous gen tundra and never thought a warranty was worth it but times are changing. Hold out, tell them you are going to research options, you're covered for three years anyway, can extend later, etc. See what they come back with, might be worth it, it made sense to me. On another note, the interior lights on these things suck after owning a few days
