Usually a parking lot siesta consists of a series of 5 to 10 minute dozes punctuated with jolting awake in a panic until I'm either rested enough or irritated enough to continue the journey.

This time I went full on comatose for nearly 2 hours. What woke me was that somebody had their hands around my neck. I flew awake grabbing them and tossing them off me. I was in the process of pulling my knife before my brain caught up and processed that what I had thrown off was the neck pillow I was napping with.

So, couple hours nap and an adrenaline fueled fight or flight alarm clock and I'm good to go.

 

I enjoy crazy dreams. Trying to remember, and piece them together in the morning before you totally wake up is the key though. They usually have some thread of reality you've lived through with some insane shit thrown in just to mess with you so you can't totally figure it out.

 

Luckily the knife didn't clear the pocket before my rational brain had it figured. Caveman brain was still spam checking angles for threats, but wasn't in control anymore. Took a bit to clear the fog, though.

Was a trip for sure. Never woke up like that before.

Been around two years since my last beer. I truly don’t miss it. Topo Chico or Spindrift is just as satisfying without the blood sugar spike that my favorite beers (16oz double IPAs) would give me.

 

Our max is 72 straight, unless there's a hurricane/disaster/pandemic/twisted whim of the chief, etc. Then, the powers that be are happy to have asses in seats on the rigs regardless of hours. During Florence, I was here 7 days due to upstaffing and had exactly 12 hours off the clock, but couldn't get out due to flooding. On top of the OT, we get Emergency Pay Leave for every extra hour worked outside of the normal shift hours that usually has a sunset date. Didn't have that for Florence, and since I rarely take time off due to OT, I finally used the last of my EPL from 2018 last year before I hit personal time.
