Wow, that body style is old. My wife won't get one cause the interior is too boring and truck like.

Sequoia numbers have been under for a more than a few years now.

At the price of a sequioa you are about in land cruiser range now.

That's what I was thinking. Why are they continuing to put out the same ole model? I think that style has been out since 2007?

To me it looks like production might be coming to a end.

Toyota has very tough competition from gm Tahoe.

Any competition is tough when you don't revise the model ever. I'm not impressed with the Land Cruiser either for the $80k price tag.

From what I understand the new FJ is nothing to write home about compared to the last few years. As far as the Sequoia, why fix something that's not broken. Still has best in class 5.7L gas hog (and historically Toyota has always been slow to change) When it come to trucks/FJs, Toyota is not worried about competition when they sell every one they build.

Ditto! If I could afford a second vehicle, it would be the Sequoia. Mild lift/level with some DuraTracs. Good to go IMO.

I wouldn't worry about the trucks or FJ either but the Sequoia in my opinion is tired as far as exterior and interior looks.

The Jeep CJ5/6/7 was the best until someone decided it was time for a change. Then we got the "Wrangler" deluxe with Rubicon stickers.

I like the new Tundra interior much better than the old and I would think Toyota would improve the Sequoia to make it appeal to the masses and not just us guys. Not that the Sequoia is bad but it could use some new life

I actually thought the Sequoia was done too. Really done. Like I said , Toyota is slow to change. If they sell all Sequoias' every year the only thing
Toyota will do is like the 3rd gen Tundras: A little body work, new grille and some minor interior upgrades and a "better" sound system that nobody really cares for.

The problem is that Toyota doesn't care about the masses when it comes to certain vehicles they make. I do agree with you. (Wait, I'm old but not broke yet!! Sort of :cookiemonster:) I could use some refinement I guess like the Sequoia.

Must be nice. Im falling apart waiting on doctor appointment to find out my future if I have any left. Torn rotor( we think) and nerve damage. Here goes my career.

Back to topic. Toyota has to sell so many to break even on production line and supplier demand.

The dealer here only gets a hand full in(sequioa) and maybe 3 land cruisers in. Honestly I think its done for. Just my .02

I agree. I thought both were done for. The new FJ was only supposed to be short run anyways. At least that is what I thought.

Rumor was the fj is done for.

Land cruiser will always be around how toyota really got started after helping the us government out and jeep during the war.

I thought it would be stupid for Toyota to stop making the FJ. I see them all over and the local dealer rarely has any used ones. Maybe two used on the lot on a good day. Same with Tacos and Tundras.

All about sales. Fj is imported. I beleive the fj is only for the usa only? If toyota wants to stay on top they must trim now.

After VERY LITTLE reading LOL, I found that the FJ will continue for 2016 but CAFE standards may kill it afterwards.

And the Sequoia is offered for 2016 unchanged save for some bells and whistles. In this case, blind-spot warning, lane changing assist, and driver's seat and side mirror memory. Some Etune stuff too.

    Cafe will kill it.

They need to swap engines and use the new v-6 in the tacoma. Unless there is some issue that has not come into the spot light like licensing agreements on the new v6.

    Interesting find on Wik
"In 2010, Toyota announced its intent on ending production on the Sequoia after the 2014 model year due to declining sales and replace it with a next-generation Land Cruiser, but in 2012 announced that the Sequoia will be redesigned along with the Toyota Tundra for the 2014 model year and will continue with a truck-based body. As of September 2014, Toyota continued to offer the Sequoia for the 2015 model year using the same second generation design."

Sounds like they wanted to drop it but just kept it around without changing to see where the market went.

Actually, my wife loves how Sequoia drives. We test drove it along with other large SUVs. She liked Sequoia the best. The only factor that deters us from buying it is the cargo room in the back. I don't understand why Toyota doesn't offer a longer model for Sequoia.
