Probably just as aggravating too.

 

I've had mine for a few years. I've never once said to myself, "Damn this glare is killing me!" but maybe I'm a weirdo. Sun is equally obnoxious here as it is in TX and FL. I've lived in all three. I also have the dark grey interior (pretty sure you do too?) so maybe it helps? I dunno.

 

The idea is to leave it stock. Or very mild suspension, wheels/tires, creature comfort mods. I drive all my vehicles pretty hard, but the prerequisite is that it has to be either bulletproofed or I know everything is dialed in and I won’t have issues. So being well maintained would be an understatement.
I wouldn’t even say I’m beating on this first gen yet because I don’t have anything gusseted. I’m one of those smart dumb folks. Lol

 

I was loading some firewood like an idiot a few weeks ago and put a few dents in the truck. See pics below. I was thinking about trying a harbor freight special dent popper to fix them. Anyone had any luck with a small dent puller like this?

 

Ceramic coat works wonders. It’s so easy to apply. The paint correction is the harder part. It’s like doing the best and cleanest rain x application you’ve ever done to a windshield. Did the wife’s GX cause she doesn’t wash it for shit and it makes my life a million times easier.

I wanna dip into the ceramic coating stuff. It’s a little intimidating, but I’m sure I can pull it off. More intimidated by the work (time) it takes

 

Start with the windshield. I use this followed by glass cleaner. Make sure it’s spotless and apply like rain x. It doesnt haze over, but rainbows in color in similar time and just wipe off.

I just use 0000 bronze wool with Sprayway foaming glass cleaner. Does the same.

All they're selling you in that kit is a gentle buffing compound, no?

 

Why buy a kit? Search up 'dildo dent repair' on YT and you'll find all kinds of stuff. Surely eveyone has something like this laying around, ya?

They make kits you can buy on scAmazon with 3 different sizes. I'm sure they'd probably do something also. But I think it's intended more for the larger dents.

Still, If you heat up the panel some, and give a tug, steel has a natural memory, a shape it wants to go back to. As long as there isn't a crease, you can do a hell of a lot without anything more than a hammer and dolly.

Idk if I’d go 22+, but I’m definitely entertaining another 5.7 or even a domestic truck. I spend so much time in the truck that I’d like more space up front.

I’ve backed off what I was planning on doing with this truck anyways. Just seems pretty unreasonable with how impatient I am. That and the idea of one built out truck and one mildly done sounds pretty appealing opposed to one truck that’s super rowdy. And I really don’t like talking to random strangers about cars at the gas stations and whatnot LOL

Hopefully you're not staring down the barrel of rebuilding both diffs just two years after spending bank on regear and e-locker. I try not to think about it too much and keep working as much OT as I can til Panhandlemonium 2.

 

If you have to rebuild a 3rd time, take them to Zuk in Prescott

Part of me wishes I had taken it back to the guy that did it and see if he'd fix em at reduced cost, since he's the only one that's worked on em, since he regeared em two years ago. But part of me is glad I didn't, because maybe he's just not good at it. Thing is the dude that did my diffs originally was highly recommended by my local Toyota off roaders. So maybe I'm just unlucky. But it's highly suspect to me that the same seal failed after the regear, as it did again after he "fixed it", which has led to where I am now with a fucked front diff.
I think the rear just needs a new pinion bearing, but I think the front needs to be completely rebuilt. I've avoided sharing these here, because its a major source of stress for my soul. Maybe I value my truck too much. Maybe I'm in the right place for that.

It was. That's the weird thing. I don't know if I was missing a second seal there or what? I think the guy thats working on my truck now said I was missing a seal. I don't remember. I just told em I need em fixed by October 15.
The ECGS bushing is toast. Probably need new ring and pinion gears, new bearings etc.
