At the beginning of April I sold my 22 Army Green Tundra back to my local dealer and ordered a Rivian. When I sold the truck, the dealer told me to delete the truck from the Toyota app and all my connected services would also cancel automatically. Tonight my wife was looking at the AT&T bill and said that we were still paying a $25 monthly charge for a connected vehicle. Thankfully it's an unlimited data plan(of course if it wasn't I would have found out faster) as who ever bought my truck must be using the hotspot frequently. Last month there was 225GB used. The whole time I owned the truck it was never over a single GB. A friend at the dealer thought that someone from Utah came out here to Oregon and bought the truck, taking it to Utah. So, if you bought a used 22' Army Green Tundra with matching ARE top out in Oregon and took back to Utah, sadly the free Internet is coming to an end. :p

Hah, at least you are good sport about it. I bought a used Audi A4 years ago and had it for 3 or 4 years. I thought it came with a free 3 month trial of XM radio but it never turned off. Traded it in with XM still going strong.

Yeah it's not a big deal, my Rivian has been free but I do have to start paying this next month so it all washes out. I was a sales and install manager with Circuit City car audio years ago, and when XM rolled out they gave the car audio employees free hardware and service for us to demo. I was still using my free account(had transferred the service to 2 other vehicles over the years) 5-6 years after CC had gone out of business and XM merged with Sirius. One day randomly shut off and turned back on asking me to subscribe.

I was an S&I manager too.
Had to answer phones by saying…
“Circuit City Roadshop, what can I install for you today?”

Did you buy a R1T or R1S? I've been intrigued by Rivians lease numbers and test drove one recently. I don't put a lot of miles on my vehicles and buy a new truck every 3 yrs anyway. But I like my Army green Tundra with all its warts and just not sure about going electric yet. Got a deposit on Chevys EV Silverado and if I was to buy/keep the Rivian for 3 yrs it would give them a chance to get the bugs out of it.

Yep, I remember that script. :p Ah the good old days. The markup and subsequently our discounts on car audio were amazing. I was Alpine everything!Had a 99' Honda CRV took the factory stereo out, installed a LCD screen, Alpine DVD headunit in the glove box, and Xbox under the seat.

I went with the R1T as it has 11,000# towing and my TT at the time was 8,000#. The R1S is rated for 7,700#, and I might have gone that way if I had my new 4,000# Geo Pro TT at the time. Back in March, I went camping with my 29' 8,000# Coleman TT up in eastern Washington, and got 7mpg's on the way there, The last 80 miles coming home against a steady 30-40mph headwind I got 3.8mpg's. Tundra had no issue towing the trailer but the MPG's were killing me. All the way around towing or not. My daily drive is to 12-20 miles depending on how I go to work and that's Going to, home for lunch, back to work, then home, 500' elevation drop going, then up on the way home. No truck I have ever owned has got what I expected for mileage. I started looking for smaller TT's, then ran into a friend who had a Rivian, we chatted about it, I forgot about it, then I started seeing them on a daily basis( I live in small Oregon town along I84, found out there are Rivian Fast Chargers not far from work). I started researching and it has really worked out for me. In 5 months it has cost me around $80 to charge at home keeping truck at 70% on a daily basis. I towed my Coleman trailer to the Oregon coast(180miles) had to stop for 1-30 minute charge each way, the towed it to Portland to trade the Coleman in on a little off grid ready 20' Geo Pro, Towed down to Central Oregon(190 miles), same thing 1-30 minute charge each way, I've also ran to Seattle and back(500 miles) 3 times, 1-45minute charge each way. It costs me an average of $25-35 at commercial chargers, I usually charge from around 15% back up to 80% each charge on longer drives, the nav routes it planning charging with those % parameters. I did give up the Army Green that I loved, but I got a Forest Green Rivian, which at the time I leased they were offering a free Matte PPF wrap worth $6K. The matte forest green is pretty sweet looking. The new Silverado's are very cool. They have some sweet specs for sure. Rivian is definitely a startup, and so far my truck has had no troubles. I got the engine recall notice a week after I sold my Tundra back to Toyota dealer. Here are pics showing highest suspension height at 15.9" and lowest at 7.9". I went withe the quad motor 831hp, 907ft# of torque. I've not timed myself but I believe the 0-60 in 3 second claims. IMG_2281.HEIC.jpg IMG_2284.HEIC.jpg

You would be surprised by how many people sign up for a service that automatically bills them every month and they forget about it and keep paying long after they stop using the service. I can't help believing that it is included in the business plan for the companies that offer the services.

I haven't seen a Rivian in the down low position. It looks sweet!

Thanks for the Rivian R1T feedback. That is the setup I am looking at with the green but with the 500ish hp. Maybe they'll offer the flat paint again. I'm definitely intrigued. My wife prefers the R1S but the lower towing numbers and no bed makes it a nogo.
