You buy the vehicle from a dealership and it's sent to them. Depending on what you want $30k +.......don't quote me. If you are serious I can give him your contact information.

I know I’m late to respond to this, but my business partner has a thing for corvettes. When I first met him he had a c7, then got a c8, drove both on the track. Then he bought a tesla model 3 performance and promptly sold both corvettes. Part of that was the Covid used car prices - he made money on both vettes. But he also told me it was difficult to have the 3 performance which was so much quicker off the line for half the price.

Right now he has a huracan v10, which he’s driven quite a bit. Somewhat of a daily driver from late spring to early fall for the last few years. At the beginning of the summer he found a good deal on a new old stock 2023 model s plaid, and is now looking to sell the huracan.

All this to say, the seat of the pants torque/acceleration is utterly surprising, if that’s your thing. I’ve watched my business partner bounce around between some really nice cars over the years and he keeps coming back to Teslas for his fun vehicles. He also feels much less anxiety about driving his teslas every day, in poor weather, etc.

    Me personally? I’d rather have a v8.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    very good point mentioned above.

as it relates to "soul" of a car here is a fine example:

when I take the Plaid to the gun range... nobody cares

when I take the '34 Ford to the gun range, folks stop shooting and gather like a herd of elephants.

    life is good.

I've been following this thread for a while. It won't be me retirement vehicle but a present for my 40th to myself. I went and test drove a GT premium with the exhaust option that puts it at 486hp which is the closest to the Dark Horse. Lots of fun for sure. I will be ordering a Dark Horse come late December/early January to have it around May for delivery. One of my guys at work is good friends with a Manager at a local Ford store. MSRP and no add on nonsense. Plan is to drive it stock for a summer or 2 and then add on the ESS kit with injectors and the oil pump gear put it around 700HP and enjoy the hell out of it. Vapor blue in color and i skipped the recaros as they are too tight for me.

Also check out this place they have a really nice pre owned selection

MKIV? Absolutely! 2 door BMW? Absolutely not! I did see this this morning on my way to work. Kinda weird coincidence.

I would stay away from the Supra. I see them all day coming in for all sorts of issues. BMWs are nice but to lease and return

Wow. Some nice cars/deals at that dealership!

The Ford performance mechanic I talked to yesterday said that was the best bang for your buck. Dark horse/Ford Performance SC. He also admitted even though he preferred the standard, he would go with the 10 speed auto.

I contemplated the auto but this will not be a daily so the 6 speed Tremec it is. Strictly summer toy car. If i was to build it to some good power down the road i would go the auto route though

That sucks. Thanks for the heads up. I really had a great test drive with the BMW M2 Comp and the S58 is supposed to be very reliable.

Car care nut wasn't impressed with the Supra either.

The guy I talked with said the auto is quicker, but the tremec is a "more better:rofl: " experience.

I will be interested in the steering feel issues people have been talking about.

Only time will tell. Auto will always be quicker but i need to row gears again. Haven't had a manual car in about 22 years now. Kids and life happened but now that they are all grown its time for me to play again.

When I drove a manual vette, its was great. I hated it in traffic (freeway) though. Idk if I would go back to manual. Having an extra “free” hand is nice, and one less item (clutch) that’ll wear out sooner.

Honestly, I miss and regret selling my WRX because a sporty car with 6 gears is a blast, but if I ever get a second fun car I think it'll be a Tesla Model 3 long range. EVs are one of the few vehicles I don't have anxiety about buying used because there's no oil change to miss, no gears to grind, etc. So, as long as the interior isn't phuked and the history is clean, it's a pretty safe bet that nothing is wrong with it. Combine that with the savings of buying used and it's definitely got an appeal.

I never even knew about those, but they seem pretty cool. As far as the manual vs auto, it's not even a question for me. Manual all the way. If that Vic still had an auto I'da said, "well that's neat", and kept scrolling. Seeing now what a Haltech ECU can do, I'm seriously contemplating putting one in my truck and doing a 5 or 6 speed swap with a manual transfer case. What better way to spend ANOTHER 8k on a 5k truck?

Sorry, rambled on a bit there. But I can see how it would suck. Hitting stop and go on the way home in CO springs and Pueblo did suck, and this car has a heavy clutch. So I could understand an auto in bigger cities with more stop and go. Amarillo is still small enough stop and go only happens when there's construction. Which has been for about the past 3 years now.

A coworker has a 21 Supra. Black. Likes it a lot. Wants a GT-R more, but they can get quite pricey even used.

I’m a little old school so I’ve never even thought about an automatic for a track car. But the last track day I went to I finally drove one with paddle shifters. Completely changed my mind. I’m dead set on one now. Just so much easier and actually quite a bit faster. I’m just getting too old to be racing with one hand and twisting my leg trying to heel/toe. I’d imagine my next track car will be my last so it’s gotta last me til I die. If I already feel this way, I’m sure it’ll be 10 times worse when I’m 65.

Given the choice, I'd always take manual over auto. Especially for a fun, sporty driver's car.

I was in that camp too, but I've had some back and hip issues that have forced me to reevaluate. Short term I can drive a clutch, but long term it's a no go.

Thought I had this one in the bag...until someone pulled out the big one. Still went for under market at 72k. I stopped at 69K.
